According to the fountain of knowledge that is www.chartstats.com, on week ending 17th Nov 2007 there were two separate versions of Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse - Valerie in the top 40, at #4 and #37. Is this correct? If so, why were two versions charting? Thank you in advance for anyone helping me out with this burning question :P

I think the other version was by Amy Winehouse on her own without Mark Ronson. Her version was a B-side of one of her single I believe, but I'm not sure. Anyway it was available on iTunes.

Hmm...

So the only difference is the one at #4 had the Ronson production, and the one at #37 didn't?

She did a performance of Valerie for Radio 1.

Actually the two versions has nothing to do with eachother, but basically what you said is correct.

Okay that makes sense. :D

I suppose it was made a real single release due to the Live Lounge cover, like what heppened with Leona's cover of Run then.

it was on the re release of her album and charted on downloads from the album.

I think this is the version that charted at #37:

While the one at #4 was obviously the version everyone is more familiar with.

Okay thank you ^_^

Can I have this thread locked please?

Impressive chart runs for both - I wonder how many people were disapointed upon downloading the solo Amy Winehouse version and realising it was not the version that they had been hearing on the radio

Amy Winehose - Valerie:

69-58-52-66-63-37-41-47-69-78-96-77-47-65-71-79-93-75-80-97-85.

Mark Ronson & Amy Winehose - Valerie:

41-12-7-3-2-4-5-5-4-5-5-6-7-11-8-6-6-13-12-14-20-24-22-13-13-22-31-35-37-44-48-51-59-60-72-72-82-81-79-84-65-65-73-84-90-94-99.

Some radio DJs discredit Mark Ronson, saying "that was Valerie by Amy Winehouse", etc. and what they play is Mark Ronson's.

The Mark Ronson version was played to death. I hate it :-/

IKR? It was overplayed. No wonder why it was Top 10 for ages. =/

And I can still hear it but unusual now.
