Posted September 24, 200915 yr Sony Music’s fourth quarter schedule has been given a spectacular boost with the announcement of a new Michael Jackson album, including a brand new song. The two-disc album, entitled This Is It, ties in with the forthcoming film of the same name, released by Sony Pictures on October 28. The album, featuring “the music that inspired” the film, is released internationally on October 26 to coincide. A new single, also entitled This Is It, will be released on October 12. Disc one of the album will feature original versions of some of Jackson’s biggest hits, arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film. It ends with two versions of This Is It, which features backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, The Jacksons. Disc two features previously unreleased versions of some of the artist’s hits, as well as a previously-unheard spoken word poem, Planet Earth. The album includes a 36-page, commemorative booklet featuring photos of Jackson from his last rehearsal. ==================== In here for the time been, probably get moved in the Jackson forum later...
September 24, 200915 yr Sony must be run by muppets. Do they seriously think people need another hits album? Why not just add the single to 'The essential' or 'Number Ones'? Also, they have less than 3 weeks to promote the new single, so how do they expect it to reach its potential?
September 24, 200915 yr My problem is... are they not going to add 'Better On The Other Side' by The Game and co. so at least it was released (even just in the album)? Edited September 24, 200915 yr by FM11

Also, they have less than 3 weeks to promote the new single, so how do they expect it to reach its potential? Sony will be releasing 'Greatest Hits' albums by Michael for years to come with one or two 'bonus' tracks added - Ideal way to get everyone to buy a £12 album of songs they already own  And i doubt they will have much problem promoting the 'This Is It' single in 3 weeks - They don't need to do anything the media are already all over it.
September 24, 200915 yr Looks like 'This Is It' will not be available as a single download and will only be available as part of the album  A new Michael Jackson single called "This Is It" will hit the airwaves on October 12, two weeks before it is available as part of a two-disc album released by the late pop star's record label. Sony Music's Columbia/Epic Label Group said it would release the "This Is It" album internationally on October 26 and in North America on October 27, to coincide with the simultaneous global release of the Jackson movie of the same name on October 28. A spokeswoman in London said that contrary to some reports, the posthumous single would not go on sale separately but would be available for radio stations to play from October 12. September 24, 200915 yr I think that will apply to the US only. I am sure they will release here, because no radio station will play an album only track. Why wouldn't they want another number one for the MJ cash cow? :nocheer:

September 24, 200915 yr it's a shame that 'This is it' will not be available as a download since this was supposed to be Michael's first posthumous number 1... i guess it will just be available for free all over the internet music blogs, which is such a shame...
