‘Keisha doesn’t want to know… it’s really hard’

The Sugababes have revealed how Keisha Buchanan’s exit from the group almost spelled the end for the band after 11 years.

But – choosing their favourite column to give the inside track over Keisha’s departure and new girl Jade Ewen’s arrival – the girls have vowed to come back stronger than ever.

I was the first to meet the new line-up face-to-face in London after they jetted in from LA where they’ve been filming the video for new single About A Girl.

And in an emotional interview, tearful band member Heidi Range told me: “Things came to a sudden end. We didn’t think anything was going to continue at all. We were going to split – and we’d be over.

“Then management came to us and asked Amelle and me if we would like to carry on. And we did.

“The last time I saw Keisha was terrible. We didn’t speak. I’ve sent her a message but she’s not talking to me – she doesn’t want to know. It’s been years together with the band and it’s really hard. Really hard. Everyone’s nicknamed me Tiny Tears because I’m constantly bursting into tears.”

But Heidi’s clearly positive about the future of the Sugababes – a band that’s sold close to 10 million albums.

She added: “We’ve been given a second chance. We tried everything we could to make it work with Keisha but we couldn’t keep it going with her. Life’s too short to live in an unhappy situation.

“None of us were happy – her included. It was a difficult situation.”

And it’s clear Heidi has the undivided support of fellow band member Amelle.

The star, who disappeared two weeks ago when the cracks started appearing in the band’s third line-up, says she’s ready for a fresh start as the ’Babes prepare to release new album Sweet 7.

Amelle said: “This is a new beginning. I’m very happy.

“I did need a breather so I went home and turned my phone off and ignored everybody. I wanted to work out what I wanted in life.

“Keisha and myself talked it out a lot. I saw her twice in the end when I was in LA and we were trying to sort things out. Once on my own and once with Heidi.

“I just think what’s done is done and it’s sorted. It’s time to move on.

“I’d like to be mates with her in the future and I can’t be arsed with some public war of words.”

I’ll leave the final word to the newest member of the Sugababes – former Eurovision star Jade.

She told me: “It’s slightly intimidating being in the band of course but it’s huge. I was a fan before and I want to prove myself. Everyone in the band has always been a strong vocalist and that’s what I’ve always been about.”

And talking of Keisha, Jade said: “I think I’m nothing like her, I want to bring my own personality to the table.”

I reckon this latest line-up change will be just what the doctor ordered to spice things up a bit.

There’s life in these Sugababes yet – you just wait!

Gee maybe it was because you kicked her out!!!

what a tard.

If Keisha wasn't being such a nob to work with in the first place she wouldn't have gone, duh.

Yeah, but im saying its stupid saying "oh shes not responding to my messages, shes not talking to me" when why would she talk to someone who conspired in kicking her out of the group and replacing her.

couldn't have said it better myself

But it wasn't exactly Heidi or Amelle's fault... They were asked by management whether they wanted to continue or not. They're not going to say no are they? - and even then I'm pretty sure they didn't say they would like to continue without her straight away. So the only thing for it was for MANAGEMENT to get rid of Keisha and find a replacement.

I know yeh I think now the main Keisha heads need to stop pointin the finger at Heidi & Amelle when its Keisha's own fault, if anyone should have a finger pointed it, it's Keisha or the Management.

I more than happy to point it at the management ^_^

Oh snap ^_^

Tbh, if any of you were in the position Amelle and Heidi were in and asked if you wanted to carry on, you'd say yes! It's their bloody job, you wouldn't say, "actually no, I don't want o carry on doing my job" would you?!

Keisha was a $h!t to work with obviously, as much as I wanted her to stay in the group, it seems like it's her own doing.

Im not saying it wasn't Quiche's fault. I dont know who's fault it was. But I'm just saying why would she ever expect Keisha to talk to her. I can think of many instances where i would make the same choice heidi and amelle did but i wouldn't ever expect the person that was screwed over by my decision to talk to me and I certainly wouldnt go around acting like i didn't do anything wrong.

I can totally see why Keisha had to go....i mean....all three girls couldn't go on working together anymore, that much is clear to everyone now! It would be totally ridiculous to replace both Heidi AND Amelle just so that Keisha can remain (being the last remaining "original" babe and all that...). Since Heidi and Amelle still wanted to work together, Keisha had to go...and the management made the right decision in that respect. At least we are still gonna get new sugababes music right??

I just think this whole thing is such a shame though. I mean, how hard is it to get along with someone? lol! Ah well....its done now...and I'm looking forward to the new album as I love the new singles! Jade is a good singer so hopefully she will bring something new to the group :)

TBH this is one big mess that isnt gonna clear itself up now.

I cant really justify blaming anyone but Keisha tbh as much as I like the girl.

She clearly brought this on herself behind the scenes and left Heidi and Amelle with no choice - let the band fold or try and save it.

I'm personally please Sugas live on for another while.

this is going to be around for a while and will kick itself up again when K's solo stuff appears.
