Oh for heaven's sake the whole thing is stage managed. Just take it for what it is ... great entertainment. We can all sit back thinking 'my cat can sing better than that'* and feel all superior. I must admit I was a bit taken aback tonight ... as I was certain that John & Edward would be safe for another week (I'm hoping they'll be there for another six weeks actually.) However Simon did something that makes me think that they may actually go tomorrow ... he was (by his standards) very nice to them! Maybe Simon has cottoned on to the fact that the more he slates an act ... the more likely the public are to keep that act in just to keep Simon in 'one-liners'.

On a musical note - Stacey was the best by far tonight ... plus ... she has a fabulous personality. One can't believe that the speaking voice could be the same as the singing voice. She reminds me of Lena Lamont in Singin' In The Rain!

*incidentally - my cat is dead and it can still hit better notes than Danyl.

I hope Joe and Stacey are the final two. Not fussed on anyone else to be honest.
Same. He was good, as in he surprised me. But that's all... LOL. Ah well. At least it looks set (so far) to go Top 10 FINALLY! LOL.

01. Stacey - Easily my favourite now, her voice is quite gorgeous. She reminds me of a less annoying (vocally) and more likeable Diana Vickers from last year. I think the song choice worked well, but I was trying to think of what advert it's from for most of it.

02. Joe - Has really shone so far, wasn't as good as last week, but it was still good and I like him as a person too.

03. Olly - This is the Olly I've been missing! Reminded me of his first audition, really liked him this week just as I was beginning to go off him.

04. Rachel - It was alright, but Dannii doesn't quite get her I feel. Her best performances so far were "Last Request" at boot camp and "Nobody Knows" when she was in the bottom two. I think she's more suited to singing these types than diva numbers and it's a bit "don't judge a book by it's cover" when you give her Beyoncé. Her range/tone isn't at all similar to hers so it didn't work so well.

05. Miss Frank - Was a bit ropey to start with, I don't think Shar is good enough for proper solo bits, got better when they were nearer to each other. I literally don't get why they're always standing so far apart, doesn't make them look like a group.

06. Danyl - Didn't work as well as last week, as Whitney said, he doesn't really keep to the melody. Needs to learn how to sing a song and not just adlib his way through a performance. I do want to like him more though.

07. Lucie - Flimsy. It's doing her more harm than good giving her proper diva songs. So far she's shown she's miles away from Leona and miles away from Whitney too.

08. Rikki - Bless him, that song just isn't for men, especially if it's not a powerhouse. His big note was a bit weird, sounded like a woman.

09. Lloyd - Chorus was awful, but I actually liked the verses.

10. Jamie - He's just not that pleasant to listen to, better than last week, but still nasty shouty gravel voice.

11. John and Edward - Worst. Performance. Ever. I seriously cannot recall something this awful in the history of X Factor including Eoghan, Leon Jackson, the McDonald Brothers, Lloyd, Chico etc. just so bad. What was with them doing the spoken middle 8 bit? It should have been erased from the original song, not to mention a cut down X Factor performance. It was actually a bit creepy for one twin to sing it to his other twin as it's obviously a cheesy 'romantic' line from the boy after Britney's affections in the song. Thought I was watching the Peter Kay pisstake for a minute.

Overall it was a night of let downs really, was looking forward to Diva week. Whitney was looking amazing though, could really see when she was enjoying it and when she was wondering why she was there. I just hope she does alright tomorrow, but I wouldn't count on it.

It'll probably re-peak at #11 now. LOL :(

Maybe it's just coz it reminded people how good the song was? I remember Hope performed it (terribly iirc) and it got back into the Top 40 then as well.

Yeah, I think it's a criminally under rated song, one of her best. It seems "Hurt" can't have got enough promo/airplay at the time of release as it seems to benefit a lot from mass exposure on this show.

Quite funny tonights show, couldnt stop laughing when John & Edward did the talking scene  omg they deserve to stay an extra week now I'm curious at what they'd sing next

Also LOL at the end, how every other act was like oh I'm gonna do my best to please you judges etc and then you get Stacey going "Oh well can't please 'em all" couldn't stop laughing  loving her

This is exactly what makes Stacey so endearing to everyone. Even my husband, who hates these kinds of shows, thought she was just charming - and with a great voice too. You get the feeling that, if she didn't go all the way ... this girl will still make it. Besides ... I'm quite certain she was the only act that Clive Davis actually looked to be genuinely impressed with. To me ... she has a look of Barbara Streisand about her - kooky and classy at the same time.

And why is the results show 1 hour and 15 mins tomorrow , it was an hour last week, talk about watering the results show, it was only for 30 mins last year, honestly what is there to fit, 2 performances, group song and the results with 4 ad breaks.

The breaks feel like 10 minutes each too, its a right drag.

Those extra 15 minutes equal quite a few more phone votes! And what do phone votes make? MONEY! Those big trousers Simon wears don't pay for themselves you know!

Oh dear, I thought the 7:45pm start meant it'd be a shorter show, ending at 9:30pm instead. But it's actually longer. I felt it dragged enough last week.

01. Stacey Best again this week. But it really is apparant that there isn't anyone this year who really "stand out" like a lot of last year's class did (Alexandra, JLS, Diana Vickers, Ruth Lorenzo).

02. Rachel YAY. Better than last week, so if there's any justice she'll avoid the bottom 2 again.

03. Olly Although I wish he'd sort his hair out, there is a charm to him. He could be the next Will Young.

04. Danyl Another good week. He does seem to be heavily reliant on those last big long notes in each song though. Needs to find a new trick.

05. Jamie Not bad. He showed some nice range to his voice tonight, flitting between soft and loud.

06. Joe Vocally he's fine, can't fault him. But there's something still really unappealing with him, he's just TOO soppy, wet and flimsy. I can't stand the constant cheesy grin and soppy sweetness. MAN UP.

07. Rikki I feel sorry for the guy because I don't think he's as bad as people say he is. I agree the song choice just didn't suit him at all, but he did the best of a bad job. He kept in tune and showed a bit of spark, which is better than could have been expected. And he seemed more confident than he did last week.

08. Lucie To be honest, I'm beginning to think she might be a little overrated after all. She's an adequate singer, but nowhere near the best. Her voice was just so up and down throughout this song. She's having problems controlling her volume and keeping it steady.

09. Lloyd OH DEAR. To be honest I think it started okay, and I actually liked the odd arrangement. But then came the chorus, and Lloyd just DOESN'T have the power in his voice to pull that off. Cheryl DID make a mistake giving him that song, he CAN'T do the big songs. But he will safely survive this week because of Cheryl's "breakdown", which I can't decide whether it was genuine or not.

10. Miss Frank It really is going all wrong for them :( They were dreadful last week, and wobbly tonight. There was too much emphasis on solo parts tonight, and their solo vocals just AREN'T up to scratch. They need to be focusing on singing their harmonies together. And also start doing something upbeat  NO MORE BALLADS.

11. John & Edward Did I really just see that? Total car crash telly.

Well, you don't HAVE TO watch it you know. The results will come in the ten last minutes of the show, so no need for you to watch it all or to complain about how long it is.

As an aside, thinking back I'm quite enjoying this series in a car-crash kind of way. Even after last week's judging hot mess (KandyRainSlapperGate and Dannii's faux pas), this week was possibly an even bigger SHAMBLES.

One of the judges skiving, one of the judges trying to get away with MIMING herself on the live show, the contestants all generally FAILING and ranging from DREADFUL to merely adequate and dull, Simon Cowell being in a right grumpy arse old mood yet behaving sickeningly sycophantic to his own acts (Danyl isn't THAT good), his declaring of male contestants to be "cute" and his bizarre random Clive James appreciation speeches, the dribbling Irish twins frollicking around in red PVC and pretty much declaring their incestual love for each other with the spoken part of her performance, Cheryl's total breakdown, Whitney pretty much HATING on every contestant she met and looking thoroughly bored and pissed off by it all...FABULOUS. More please ITV!

Let's relive this shall we? :kink:

"Edward, before you go I wanna give you something"

"Ahh it's beautiful, but isn't this...?"

"Yeah. Yes It Is"

LOL! I love how serious they look whilst doing the dance routines too! HAHA!

The Final 2 performances of the night that I watched just before going out to my local and meeting "the beer monster"

Jamie Archer - Hurt 6.0

I just cannot see what Simon sees in him at all. He is just an average pub performer in my eyes. Competent vocally if shouty in places, but hardly winning material.

Stacey Solomon - At Last 9.0

Taking on the Etta James standard, this is a very great effort. Add to that her very natural Janet Street Porter's nice goofy niece personality and she is my favourite in the contest.
