I don't get the whole appeal of alot of the RnB genre.......actually no it's not the RnB genre as a whole it's just the whole girlfriend/boyfriend theme that's been kicked to it's absolute death. Every day it seems like there's another person singing about how he messed up and he wants her to forgive him.

Can anyone at all understand how that could get on someone's last nerve very very quickly, change the record please....how many more times do they need to sing about their boy/girlfriends?

It's 100% uncreative, for sure :(

Ugh I can't believe what I heard on the radio this evening, a song I really like from this contest has been mangled into a rubbish 'I love you baby, take me back' Rnb track :nocheer: Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek

Her song has such deep meaning, while that Jason guys song is as simplistic as they come :manson:

I 100% agreed. I cringe every time i listen to that toilet brown substance called 'Whatcha Say'. It's not even murdering a song, it's much worse :snif:

RnB can be amazing. Watcha Say is fairly bad though.

I'm not a really big RnB fan, but i do like some stuff every now an then.

Indie just doesn't appeal to me. I do not understand the arse rapage of Flo and the Machine in the slightest, and don't get me started on some of the $h!t that has been entered to BJSC.

Some of the stuff that qualified over Nevio/Cilmi was truly shocking. [iMO obv]

I like indie, I like R&B, but which is better? FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! :kink:

No, seriously, I like both, but none of them is the equal of scandipop

my personal chart top 5 at the moment has one electro pop song, one indie song, one R&B song, one scandi-pop song, and whatever genre you'd file Cheryl Cole's 3 Words under - is it pop, is it dance, is it R&B?

nothing like variety :cheer: oh, and I like or love 44 out of the 46 songs in this month's contest! and found two average :o

It can be, but often they can fall into typical beats and unimaginative lyrics. Alot of RnB I hear, it's like they pretend they're so emotional and deep but they're really not because about 20 other songs have said the exact same thing that month.

Probably what annoys me most is the cliched lyrics you can find in RnB, not just RnB though there are other culprits too but I find most of it for me comes from the likes of Chris Brown, Kanye West, etc

Every now and then I come across an Rnb song that's not afraid to break away from the mold though

Oh I'm diverse too, you've seen my chart right? New entries this week from Glee, Caroline Jonsson, The Killers, the Pet Shop Boys and Sinitta :kink:

I agree that it's a pretty strong contest btw, despite the potential cheap factor...

nice plug :kink: and we've had cheaper contests in the past...nothing will EVER beat XIV, I think everyone was taking the mick that month  even the cheapest song here isn't really that cheap...

That is in tomorrow's chart of course  I guess you are right about it not being that cheap, which song would you say was cheapest though? :kink: I guess that's why my debut did quite well, as it was surprisingly uncheap (by my standards :heehee:)

only because they've been in the UK singles chart (top 75) Dominoes and Under The Sheets, but I'd never heard of Dominoes before the contest (been living under a rock) and Under The Sheets missed the top 40 anyway, so neither are really particularly cheap to me...

I guess there are a few release schedule songs; Example, Glee and then of course the Vanessa Carlton song that was a top ten hit here, but none of these three are what I would regard cheap...Example bombed here last time out (:snif:), Glee hasn't premiered yet and only a handful of people have watched it, and the Vanessa song has been a bit forgotten about, I never hear it on the radio anymore...

and as for my new chart, you don't even want to know! I have 81 songs to whittle down into a top 50 :drama: that's the huge drawback of liking nearly everything I hear - I feel the urge to buy/try to chart everything I hear :heehee:

Hello Elly...is that you?

I do see your point with those sorts of songs, but R&B is amazing, probably my favourite genre. I wouldn't say Kanye is very typical of being cliché though, I find he's one of the more creative artists in that genre. It's the Chris Brown's, Sean Kingston's and Akon's that are worse. :(

but I'd never heard of Dominoes before the contest (been living under a rock)

Wow, do you not watch X Factor?! It's on during every ad break. (that's why it became a hit at first I think)

Its been in my personal chart for ages

Domino's is on an advert

Unlistenable/$h!te/Ear Rape [i could go on, but i'm sure y'all get the point.]

Domino's is on an advert

I guess it could be different for other regions, but yes. It's currently being used to advertise Xbox 360 and it's usually on during every advert break on the X Factor. (sometimes more than once) I've found it pretty hard to avoid.

Same here I find it pretty hard to avoid  surely Rich has seen the X Factor in the pass few weeks

But don't you onlt really hear the music and then a bit of the chorus, it took me a while to realise what song it was

For me, it was pretty easy to realise what the song is, when its been in my personal chart for the past 15 weeks.
