Alexandra Burke’s Overcome is heading what could be five debuts in the top five of the UK albums chart this Sunday as Cheryl Cole looks on course to claim the fastest-selling single of the year so far.

Syco-signed Burke’s first album has opened up a lead of around 20,000 sales on Michael Buble’s newly-issued Reprise/Warner Bros album Crazy Love, while the week’s biggest five sellers at this stage are completed by brand new albums from RCA’s Whitney Houston (I Look To You), Spinefarm-signed Rammstein (Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da) and Atlantic’s Seasick Steve (Man From Another Time).

Houston is also expected to score her first top five single since My Love Is Your Love reached number two in July 1999 with Million Dollar Bill more than doubling its sales week-on-week after she performed it on last Sunday’s X Factor show. However, the big X Factor winner is Cheryl Cole whose own performance on the show, where she is one of the judges, has helped her debut solo single Fight For This Love achieve the highest opening sales of the year to date. The Fascination/Polydor single has already sold 134,193 units and looks very likely to become the year’s fastest-selling single just a week after Alexandra Burke’s Bad Boys achieved the same accolade when it entered at number one last Sunday with 187,100 sales.

The X Factor connection is extended to the Christina Aguilera hit Hurt, which will return to the Top 40 this Sunday after it was performed by contestant Jamie Archer. The track originally reached number 11 for Aguilera in 2006.

The Universal-issued I Got Soul by Young Soul Rebels in aid of War Child is heading for a Top 10 debut, while Polydor’s Alphabeat should enter in and around the Top 20 with The Spell. The Atlantic-handled single Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship should chart in a similar position.

Back on the albums chart and the reformed Spandau Ballet are on course to chart in the Top 10 for the first time since 2000 thanks to their first Mercury album Once More. Another Mercury release, Straight No Chaser by Mr Hudson, should debut in or around the Top 10, while new entries lower down are expected from acts including Fleetwood Mac (via a new Reprise best of) and Alison Moyet (a new Sony retrospective).

I guess you meant Jay-Z ft Alicia Keys :D

I can see Whitney in the top 5, Million Dollar Bill has two other versions in the top 100 too.

1 Cheryl Cole 37k

2 Alexandra 19k

Considring Cheryl's lead is as big as The Burkes was last week and bigger possibly - with more sales competition too 37k is a little on the shy side in terms of possible sales....

Yeah I agree - she could be anywhere from 60k-100k for Tuesday mids.

RyRy, RyRy, wherefore art thou RyRy?

Oh yeah i just looked back. Wonder where i got 35k from  In that case then i think Cheryl will do around 95k today

Yes, I did mean Jay-Z ft Alicia Keys.

I think Cheryl will have sold far more than 37k copies. Looking at the popularity bars, I think it is interesting to see how low the bars are towards the bottom of the 40 which will remain about the same most weeks. At a similar time last week, the bars were higher than they are now, so I think Cheryl will sell more than Alex.

I predict 95k for Cheryl and 30-35k for Alex in the first midweeks.
