October 23, 200916 yr it's hard to predict how well Cheryl's album will do. I think it will be successful, maybe 500K. ..not getting good reviews........main consensus seems to be her voice lacks any warmth or depth - mind you since when has that prevented an album selling well
October 23, 200916 yr How can you say that cheryl is only singles act when she has never released a solo album before? <_< I think her album will do very well at first and all the way into xmas because 3 words is a brilliant track and has will.i.am on it too. Another recipe for success. Becaus eof the material she is releasing, particularly the genre, and the hype around her. Sells singles, not albums.
October 23, 200916 yr Cheryl's album is okay, not many uptempo songs on it though. I don't think it will trouble Kings Of Leon/Gaga/Leona etc. on the end of year chart but will easily go platinum, maybe even double platinum at a push.
October 23, 200916 yr Oh my gosh, this is tragic 9-36 now for Wordshaker. :drama: I really hope its only a frontload affect and not a commercial disliking in the album. Chasing Lights was also quite a quick exiter but came back strong if you look at its chart run: 11-21-37-59-88-85-84-80-87-63-36-14-9-14-22-26-28-29-22-33-20-24-28-31-46-61-60-60-62-82-82-100-100-128-138-128-91-126-146-160-86-45-41-42-42-69-76-75-85-74-72 (51 weeks) Can someone also please update me on Forever Is Over's position? Thanks in advance.
October 23, 200916 yr The Saturdays could drop out of the top 40 at this rate. :o. Don't say it, then it might just happen LOL. Which is what most of us don't want, The Sats fans need to unite and try and get as many people to buy the album as possible even if it is most likely to comeback strong later on. I think it'll be able to hang onto a top 40 placing this week though, next week is when I'd predict it to exit but hopefuly it rises which is what it deserves to be doing at the moment!

Thanks in advance. Chart run for CL clearly demonstrates the Saturdays have no staying power in the charts, whatsoever (apart from possible Up), particularly the album charts. You just need to look at other album's chart runs when their respective singles are released to clearly see this. FIO 3 x 4 + 2
October 23, 200916 yr Becaus eof the material she is releasing, particularly the genre, and the hype around her. Sells singles, not albums. The genre of music is obviously popular and the hype surrounding her will only help to sell the album. Sorry, i am really not being a fan-loon here but i don't see how you can predict how people will buy an artists first solo album? The hype around her does not prove that she is a singles seller
October 23, 200916 yr Poor Saturdays, it's only a matter of time before someone christens them the female McFly, although many an album tumbles only to rise again, so I wouldn't worry until after the second single. * andyboiuk, your sig isn't half stretching the page. ** Ooops apologies andy, it's wordshaker's. A whole year within in the top 200 is major staying power! =| CL has outstayed the vast majority of the albums GA and Sugababes have released. And its sold almost 300k - which counts the most. The Sats have brilliant staying power, and people are now suggesting that they're turning into the female McFly solely based on an uncharacteristic and uncommon second week slump. Up had huge staying power, not "possibly", it's a fact. Issues had a great staying power as well. And JCGE's chart run is one of the best looking of all the Comic Relief singles released, if not the best. Work, a 5th single had 10 weeks in the top 75 which is really decent for any 5th single, GA struggles to get past that many weeks with their 3rd single! And ITIL did incredibly well under the circumstances that it had extremely poor airplay support in comparison to the other singles but then in the end has pulled off 29 weeks in the top 200. The Sats DO have staying power, all the above clearly substantiate this.
October 23, 200916 yr Author Just like to say thanks to everyone that has contributed this week, and I have it on good authority this is the longest mid thread ever -_- considering its hard to keep track off at times, not going to answer any requests for today as I've had enough this week, do join us on Sunday late afternoon for the chat show thread.
October 23, 200916 yr Poor Saturdays, it's only a matter of time before someone christens them the female McFly, No they aren't because Mcfly actually sold quite a few copies of their second album Wonderland. And they're releasing their fifth LP early next year (not including Greatest Hits). The Saturdays can only dream of having that kind of longevity, and I predict this will be their second single from this album will be their final assult on the charts. Shame. P.S Isn't Mr Youngs new single GREAT?? :cheer:
