Although Ray and JLS both faltered in the early stages I think and came 2nd so don't rule him out of a place in the final :o

At this early stage I don't think you can compare Danyl's chances with Ray's and Jls's.

Loving Louis on Xtra Factor when they started booing John + Edward.. "Oh, bloody shut up, you don't know them, don't be so rude!" Whilst poor John was nearly in tears.

I just think that the bottom 2 is a turning point for some people, JLS especially...I think Danyl will be in the competition for at least 4 or 5 more weeks

 

I checked, ok it was week 5 for Ray, and week 4 was the first bottom 2 appearance for G4 who also came 2nd...we're in week 3 now so it's not like it's a million miles away

Nothing to do with racism. Nothing to do with homophobia. Probably just because he's got a really annoying personality, which makes him really unlikeable. And, he's really annoying to watch when he's singing - for one, I can't sit there and watch him sing without cringing, or wanting to smash the TV screen, because he really is that annoying to watch. That might be it?

That is complete utter bollocks. Leona Lewis & Alexandra Burke have won the X-Factor in previous year respectively. Will Young won Pop Idol, he's openly gay, and so are many other famous singers out there (male & female!). John & Edward have been getting bad press, yet they seem to be doing fine in the X-Factor.

 

Maybe if he stopped focusing on trying to sing like Whitney Housten every week and began trying to connect himself to the audience and public at home, he'd be in with a chance to win it.

 

 

Imo, I thought his cover of Feelin' Good was horrendous. He completely screamed over it. He should have taken a leaf out of Muse's books, who covered it the correct way.

I can't stand Danyl but he was much better than Miss Frank - I just think they're awful. Besides ... it was all so contrived to bring them into the competition as a group (by Simon) that they deserved to go. They were, in effect, a pre-packaged band by this show's producers before the competition even got under way.

Yeah, I agree. Pretty much what I put, you're right that Leona & Alexandra won, and Will Young won - which makes both of those points absolutely pathetic and also invalid. Like I say, he's got such an unlikeable personality - you can't connect with someone like that, and if you can't connect with someone, you don't want to vote for them, simple as.

 

Not a big fan of Muse, but I actually like their version, they don't over-sing it - Danyl over-sings absolutely everything, not the mention the same format every week - where he is completely flat throughout the whole song, and then relies on that big note at the end to actually make a good performance about something not very good at all.

Not at all surprised by Miss Frank going. I actually thought before this weekend they'd be next to go - their first two live performances were God-awful. They were pretty good last night, so I did think they'd end up scraping through, but I guess their dire start did them in.

 

Danyl is easily the strongest contestant - Lucie and Stacy are quite close to him vocally, but neither of them have anywhere near as much stage presence. What's doing him in the is the perception of arrogance - which I think is pretty unfair. It's almost as if he's arrogant just because he dares to sing so well, like he's rude for being so good at such an early stage of the competition. But it's true he has kind of helped fuel the perception in some ways, and Cowell certainly hasn't been doing him any favours with his proclamations of him being the Second Coming. I think he'll get through to the end of the competition, but the lack of likeability might prevent him from winning.

 

Oh, and one last thing - can we PLEASE scrap the group songs at the beginning of the results show? They're corny as hell.

I loved both acts, but I FAR prefer Danyl, so i'm very happy he stayed, and unles Miss Frank he has a very strong chance of winning the entire show.

Not that I believe it makes a difference, but I don't think he was when he won. I remember someone telling me at school and saying how sneaky it was of him.

 

Danyl obviously doesn't connect with the public enough. I'm so gutted to see Miss Frank go, they were the best act on there imo. It was always going to be a shock week though. We'd have expected Lloyd, Rachel or J&E in the bottom two but it's way too early to forget the cute vote for Lloyd, the novely vote for J&E (it did Eoghan and Same Difference well respectively) and there was essentially a 'save Rachel' campaign this week. (I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't only not bottom two, but she may have been as high as top 5/6 for this week)

 

On another note, I actually don't mind Westlife's song, I find Daughtry to be a bit Nickleback-lite vocally so this was more pleasant to listen to at least. Disappointed by Michael Bublé, I love that song, but it was so boring.

Honestly, tonight was a fluke considering the bottom two - people didn't vote for either of them because they thought both acts were safe.

 

So what if he's overly confident? he's a damn good singer and performer, easily in the top 3 of this years competition. I really don't get the hate from him on here. is it just because he isn't a solo female?

That 'just because he isn't a solo female' is so tired and predictable now. I actually really like Joe & Olly ... they both seem to have nice enough personalities and really good voices too, much unlike Danyl. Like previous posts have stated, I just hate him because he's overly arrogant and far too shouty on his performances.

See I think the complete opposite. I don't know anyone who likes him. Whereas on the other hand, someone like Stacey (although being a good vocalist) is benefiting hugely from public support because of her personality.

Will Young's sexuality didn't come into Pop Idol, as he kept quiet about it until after his win. Will was almost sexless where as Danyl is more overtly sexual which obviously threatens some people. :rolleyes:
