So I'm going to countdown my top 100 albums of the decade. I'll do it tens up to #50, then in fives until #20, then in twos until the number one is revealed! That's the plan anyway.

It is hard to create a definitive list but I've given it my best shot, the list is a mix of things alot of people will know to those that few if any will know, I didn't take note of how many times a single artist appears but from looking at it, it looks like a decent mix. I hope you enjoy it anyhow.

lol I was going to do this /-:

im sure i still will anyway, might not be 100 (could be more or less)

but albums>singles innit.

only 65 different acts for 100 albums though ;o

I didn't pay attention to that really.

17 acts have 2 albums in, 4 have 3 albums and 3 have 4 albums.

So it just happens to be the artists I like most, have the best albums. Strange innit? :P

proper crazy coincidence, obvs no bias or anything.

this is gonna overshadow mine as the alternative alternative countdown :drama:

also in irrelevancy, I take it you know 'Captain of Lies' by YCIS:M/Reuben, must be like a god like track for you.

Bit of a strange, mixed start then. Interpol scrape in at #100 with an album that, although I think is very good, I haven't listened to all that much and it may have been higher if I had. Next one of the only rappers I like to any degree Jay-Z makes an entrance with his much lauded Blueprint. Elsewhere Forward Russia and Los Campesinos! make their first appearances with their weakest albums having both only released two. 65daysofstatic are 1 of only 2 instrumental bands on the list, then they use sampled voices it is awesome and one says "Taking advantage just makes me stronger, we will not retreat, this band is unstoppable!" - you have to hear it to know how amazing it is ("Retreat! Retreat!" is the song, see below). The Killers with an album I listened to alot and possibly overkilled, although they generally ARE a band I listen to alot but don't normally do well in these type of lists. 'Elephant Shell' is a good album and I again listened to it alot when it was released, this however was a definite case of overkill, deserves it's spot though. Muse scrape in with their newie and it may grow on me more over time but it is currently looking liek their weakest to date. The final two of this list then are M.I.A., with one of the best albums from 2007, and Kasabian with the only album of theirs I have liked but blimey it is good!

Kasabians debut is amazing - quite underrated though. I like the idea of doing a top 100 albums of the decade but I will have to be unoriginal and do my top 100 singles or so soon. Will check back on this to see how different my more poppy taste is to yours!
I listened to Forward, Russia! once, seriously one of the most boring bands i've ever heard, ever (even though Johnny Foreigner and DARTZ! are similar artists on last fm :o). I loved Hold On Now, Youngster for about 3 months, listened to it recently and i had to turn it off, i realised how annoyingly twee they were once. Aside from that there are lots of bands/artists i should like but have never properly listened to...

100| Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights Never really was into Interpol for some reason

99 | Jay-Z - The Blueprint A modern hip hop classic, probaly the best by him from this decade

98 | ¡Forward, Russia! - Life Processes I still dont have this :/ really love their first album.

97 | 65daysofstatic - The Fall Of Math f***ing brilliant band.

96 | Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now, Youngster It's alright but then some kid named Harve kept looning over it and it put me off.

95 | The Killers - Day & Age Oh dear.

94 | Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell Always found these a bit meh.

93 | Muse - The Resistance Is a good album not sure if it will make it on my list though (will be high on my 2009 countdown though)

92 | M.I.A. - Kala meh

91 | Kasabian - Kasabian used to be well into this but these days Kasabian kid of bore me.

I think this list will be a bit hit and miss for you. I've never really been into Interpol either, that is the only album I own by the. Forward Russias 1st album is better :)

I don't listen to 65days enough, they really can be badass at times. Agree about Kasabian.

Thank for the comment, a top 200 of the decade for me would have been of such terrible quality.

Surprised you haven't heard The Resistance!

I'm not really a Muse fan so haven't bothered listening to it...I can't say I've ever found any of their singles more than 'quite good'

On to the next 10 then, and it starts off with 2 albums from this year! Yeah Yeah Yeahs really stepped up their game in my eyes with this album and also impressed me when I saw them at Leeds Fest this year. Now a bit of a controversial choice they are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, Paramore with their latest album, I ahd all of their albums in my long list but I couldn't deny that even though it is so new it is definitely their best work to date. Aaaaah memories, Hundred Reasons were one of if not the first band I saw live and this is my favourite album of theirs, this is just simple stuff done well. Another album from this year Kong with 'Snake Magnet', I saw them live earlier this year and they truly melted my brain, it was awesome, I'd heard that they weren't as good on record but I gave it a shot and although there isn't the same intensity it is still brilliant stuff. The Libertines now with the second best of their two albums IMO, really is good though. Next a band few will have heard of which is made up from members of Circa Survive, Rx Bandits and Finch notably but also many others, it's The Sound Of Animals Fighting and this is by far their best record I've heard. The much acclaimed Sufjan Stevens then now with his masterpiece, it really is a solid project and would be higher if it wasn't so long as I liek to listen to albums in one sitting where possible. Metric, one of the 3 bands with 4 albums in the list, make their debut with old work that was newly packaged and released for 2007, quality stuff! Now it gets a bit "emo" or whathaveyou with these next two bands, Dashboard are very good and this album proves it, but more notably Brand New (another artist with 4 albums in the countdown) make their debut with...their debut, it isn't as good as their later work, ebing more generic sounding but it still ahs some quality moments.
