And? He still hyped up Happy. Didnt guarantee radio support. Simon didn't hype Leona up in every country she hit #1.

Dear me.

Why are you bringing the success of happy into it? Maybe the americans got bored of leona, i don't know. My original point was how leona enjoyed massive success at first because of her over exposure. The american do tend to get bored of artists quite easily, one minute they love someone, they next, they dont care.

I don't think that anyone can deny that the US success of 'Bleeding Love' was heavily influenced Simon Cowell. It's a great song, but it takes a lot more than a great song to crack America.
Didn't Girls Aloud also have their success handed to them on a plate? I mean after all, they came from a talent show not too dissimilar to X Factor. How exactly did they have to "make it big from absolute scratch"?

If you read my post, i did kind of explain this. I said girls aloud were a bad example to use but the other acts i mentioned still stand.

In regards to GA, yes they did get off to a good start but PSTR did not help them after that, they didnt get to perform on these big reality tv shows until call the shots in 2007 and the band was created in 2002, thats 5 years! So in effect, girls aloud had to prove themselves for 5 years before they would get a break on one of these shows. GA did not get it all handed to them on a plate atall.

And also, as i was saying, winning one of these shows quite obviously doesnt gaurentee success. It can all go wrong aswell.

And thanks "Guru", glad someone agrees with me.

I think Leona will end up at #2 this week. I love Meet Me Halfway, I'm loving it even more after the X Factor performance. I won't mind which song makes #1, they are both as great as eachother!
Hopefully Robbie can clinch a no.1 album, and keep those naughty JLS boys off the top

GA obviously got a huge boost from winning the XF's predecessor, but you're right that it's not quite in the same league as the new XF model of constantly parading past acts over and over on the show. Its quite well publicised GA got very little support from their initial record deal, and in fact only really grew decent popularity from their second album, which they really managed off their own back. That said, you can never say their worked up from the ground when they won a talent show - end of

Exciting week! I'm hoping for Robbie and BEP i suppose. The babes need to climb now. It so would've been top5 with Keisha...

Just bought my copy of Chartjackers. Not much of a tune really but all in a good cause. Would be nice to see them keep Leona off the top.

I agree with all of that, very interesting that you say they only grew in popularity with their second album because i was going to say that. But yes, winning the talent show was certainly a good starting point. I just think they did well to keep it up.

Hi! Sorry if this is considered as 'off topic' but I've searched the forum and can't find anything that fits the bill...

I'm wondering if there's any possibility of getting the UK Rock Single Charts positions/predictions?

I found the Indie/Rock/Alternative Multichart thread, but it's not reflective of the Rock charts per se...

I'd be obliged if anyone could help, or at least point me in the right direction!

To the best of my knowledge there isn't a rock chart published, so in such a case it would be difficult to know what to make a prediction of. The multicharts are based on the member personal chart so it's not reflective of sales.

You could get a rock chart I suppose by removing everything from the main chart that isn't rock. The iTunes feed is not bad but all such genre charts seem to pose a problem in exactly what genre you class many tracks/artists and it's often be noted that iTunes do quite a poor job with it's genre classifications.

Perhaps you could explain more what you want from such a chart - what purpose it is then perhaps we can find a solution.

So who do we think will get it then

JLS vs. Robbie

Leona vs. BEP

Im gonna say Robbie & Leona

Hopefully will be JLS & BEP though

It'll almost certainly be robbie and leona, but jls and black eyed peas are giving them a run for their money :D

Wouldn't it be funny if there were no sales posted :kink:

- Oh and don't be so certain about JLS/Robbie

There would certainly be a lot of howls of frustration on here lol.

Makes it even more tempting

Fancy a cuppa now before I bother :heehee:
