It's a reputation he likes to fuel, but I always am a bit reluctant to believe the media's portrayal of a person without seeing them in the flesh. Anyway, theres nothing he can do about the chart battle.. and I am sure on the advert the announcer could just say: happy the stunning hit single from her amazing new album echo and it'll sell just as many copies.. how about forgetting the media and use real examples of his behaviour, you want an example of ruthless and his competitive nature?...how about getting rid of 2 better singers on your own tv show so you can get your acts to the final without any threats from competent singers. and hypocritically he doesn't judge on singing while claiming "its a singing competition". manipulative too, #1s matters especially to a high profile act in the industry like leona. she needs to match the hype and retain her status especially with alexandra and cheryl all getting #1s.

I don't think he did it just to get his acts to the final, he knew what an outrage it would cause in the press and keep interest in the show high. Also Jedward is the new craze that's sweeping the nation after Twitter, just think how much money he'd lose in phone revenue if they went out prematurely. He is basically a very clever man who is dominating the music scene right now, love him or loathe him you can't deny he does his job brilliantly. As for No 1's whether it matters or not to him is irrelevant: there is nothing he can between now and Saturday to change the likely outcome, and I don't think he will try. Never mind, at least he can console himself with his massively selling charity hit next week of a 14 year old cover *YAWN* -_-

November 12, 200916 yr Id love the black eyed peas to beat Leona and there is a great chance of it happening, it would sicken simon so much especially the fact that he would have played a part in leona not getting to number 1 by letting the black eyed peas perfrom on x factor aswell. If meet me halfway was a lead single of a new album it would have thrashed leona, but considering meet me halfway is a third single, has already sold over 100,000 before this week and is off a platnum selling album i think it is fair to say its putting up one hell of a fight.
