For those of you who don't know, Final Fantasy 13 is an upcoming PS3 & Xbox 360 game. Hugely anticipated.

 

It was just revealed that Leona Lewis will be doing the theme song for the North American & European release!

The game is released on March 9th 2010, so it could also be her next single....

The song is entitled "My Hands," and is featured on her highly-anticipated second album ECHO (J Records/Syco Music) set for release on November 16th. Leona Lewis took the music world by storm with her 2008 6x platinum debut album Spirit which features her chart topping, biggest selling single of 2008 "Bleeding Love," and mega-hit "Better In Time."

As a HUGE fan of the series I think this is a very bad move as I'm not a fan of this song and it's very un-Final Fantasy! :( I hope this means they're not 'westernizing' it too much.

Really? It's getting a bad reception on gaming forums I go to. I personally am more than ecstatic though :D

But these are the sort of grown men who get annoyed when they can't select Japanese language audio in their games, even though they don't understand a word of Japanese :P

'Main themes' tend to only be used in one major scene and credits in FF (all the ones after VII anyway), but bar that you won't hear it on the home screen or as backing music throughout the game. Hence why all the fuss from the gaming community has been ridiculous. You never heard Suteki Da Ne, 1000 Words, Eyes On Me more than twice in the game, this is being used in the same way.

I wish they played the FF adverts for more than just a week, that would have really helped the album out and maybe got My Hands into the top 100. At least Echo benefitted slightly from it.
