I've just heard a few songs from her album on Youtube, sounds like a truly epic album. I'll get this it sometime in the weekend. <3

I'm disappointed at the lack of love for 'Rootless' and 'Numb' :( They are two of my favourites on the album easily. Lovely.

 

The second half of the album is MUCH stronger than the first for me. Specifically from 'Oh No!' to the end which takes the album from just "kk" to "good" for me. Not that the first half is weak, but the second half is more pleasing to my ears.

 

Good debut though. Far from the album of the year, but pleasant enough. No really weak tracks, but 'Are You Satisfied?', 'Shampain' and 'Hermit The Frog' I could really do without.

 

Best: Obsessions, Hollywood, Oh No!, Rootless, Numb, Guilty.

I find Girls and The Outsider are the 2 weakest tracks, the rest of the album is awesome.

 

Favourites probably are Obsessions, I'm Not A Robot, Oh No :heart: and Hollywood.

I enjoyed the album though. I did know what to expect, it sounded exactly how I imagined it would.

I'm hopefully seeing her in New York next month, should be a good night out.

I'm not sure how she'll get away with singing "I'm obsessed with the mess that's America" in America.. :lol:

She's stunning. It's just her voice is a bit manly and weird.

Agree. Numb is just one of the best songs EVER. I feel that from Hermit the Frog the album becomes amazing. It shows what Marina can do when playing around with different sounds and more unconventional songs.

 

The album version of Hollywood is a bit $h!t it has to be said, was there any need for that JFK line?

This album does get better with each play, aside from Girls which just gets worse I'm afraid. From Mowgli's Road onwards it's one of the best pop albums of recent years for certain.

Agreed, the tune sounds like a Blur out take from The Great Escape and the lyrics are awful only going to encourage Girls Aloud & Heat magazine loons to hate her.

Diana Vickers is a bit of an odd act to loon over tbf.

Each to their own though. I used to 'loon over' The Corrs and Delta Goodrem :lol: Hopefully people wouldn't say 'well you like Dullta so your opinion means nothing zzzzzzz!!!!!11111!!!' if I claimed not to be a fan of the latest hyped act's critically lauded debut album :heehee:
