Simon Cowell is like Stalin feeding us 'that we don't want Cliffie & Bob the Builder' number one. I mean... my partner said everyone was happy Bob the Builder was Xmas no.1 in 2000, and the fact Cliffie sold 1 million in 1 week with 'Mistletoe & Wine' without constant plug... that's deserving number ones. X Factor is even less attractive a Xmas no.1 than f***ing Aled Jones in 1985.

To be honest I think the whole thing is stupid. I feel sorry for Joe. At the end of the day he must be feeling like there's some sort of massive campaign against HIM when its not, as it's against Simon Cowell.

The whole thing is exciting and i'm sure Team Cowell are literally wetting themselves but I don't see what the whole point in the grand scheme of things is. Is it going to make Cowell a little bit pissed off? Sure it will. But he'll still be raking in the pounds, will inevitably get to #1 the week after Christmas and will probably get #1 next Christmas.

Really?! In both York and where I am at Uni tis a massive student anthem and everyone seems to know the words! It's absolutely massive in America (adopted national anthem) but I still think it's quite well known in the UK...

I wouldn't say so. I know it's a bit of a club anthem in some places, but I don't know many people who know it. My friend in the US says it's massive though.

Exactly my thoughts.

This campaign will not decrease number of pounds in Cowell's pocket, in fact some people ('Rage For The Machine') will just act the same - download/buy Joe's track more than once - which leads to larging Cowell's wallet.

X-Factor will most probably die off on it's own anyway. I don't know exactly but... when BB started would anyone think it'd be such low ratings nowadays after 10 years?

Something I read on the Internet, and I would agree with this point of view :

I think this campaign against his song is ridiculous. The #1 spot is for the most popular song in the country that week. If RATM are #1, its not because their more popular. It's because of a concerted effort, to distort what is most popular. Thats why i don't understand this campaign. It's just sad really to rain on someones parade, just to p!ss Simon Cowell off. Why bother paying 79p to download a track no one actually wants to buy? Just to subvert the chart system. Which is merely a gage of what the public want to buy.

Do people honestly think Cowell will give a sh!t? Is he honestly gonna say "WOW" RATM is what real music should sound like!..I might scrap the X Factor.

In this case though (and ever since Christmas 2005) ... its a reflection of what the most popular TV program was in the week not the most popular song in the country.

I would have rathered a campaign against leon jackson the rubbish winner, at least joe can actually sing

If the campaign is successful then a rubbish winner will have had a number 1 while a good winner wont

Well who fecking cares about X Factor, X Factor is materialism while the world should be running on emotion a tad bit more. If X Factor loses this year, emotion wins over materialism :teresa:

If theres a campain like this next year I just hope that a decent song is picked.

I agree. Hopefully Fairytale Of New York.

God i just heard that rage machine song and i don't know what the fuss is, its just as bad as the x factor single.
The song is terrible. Whoever picked it has just as bad taste in music as Cowell.

Yeap, unfortunately most of those prefer materialism, money, objects... over true emotion, what is inside... but well I'm sure many on this forum do as well <_<

This song was one of the defining songs at my first year of Uni (2005-6) as it was always the song that got me on the dancefloor on the rock night we had at our SU! All my friends love the song and knew the words! Plenty of people regard it as a classic and I'd be so happy if a song as good as this somehow did manage to get to be christmas #1.

I'm one of those people who wanted Gary Jules to be #1 in 2003 and didn't believe he'd do it but he did so who knows?

There seems to be a lot of support for Fairytale Of New York for next year - it was even suggested in my chart commentary on Sunday (shameless plug  ). I'm sure lots of people who already own the song would be prepared to pay a small sum to try and get it to number one at last.

I agree, i think the X-Factor will die off in time, nothing lasts forever.

Even BB is ending next year.
