December 20, 200915 yr Author Congrats to the half million sheep that downloaded the song and continue to spoil the tradition of Xmas #1, and for lining the Cowell's pockets even more ;) Oh Matt. really? I thought at least you could be able to not speak bollocks. i agree on sheep, although not all of them were sheep, so not quite half a million. continue to spoil the tradition of the xmas no.1? who gives a $h!t, it has shown that REAL music can be FAKE music, the $h!t of the x factor. now as for lining Cowell's pockets even more? do you mean it increased sales of Joe? please say so, because overwise I am just plain dissapointed. The same record company is bull$h!t, they are two different sub labels none of the RATM money would get near him.
December 20, 200915 yr why are you making it personal? you are falling for this simon cowell PR. he tried to make seem like an attack on joe but it isn't, simon is the one calling the people buying the track bullies. he is the one attacking any competition and freedom to challenge the xmas number #1. the man has absolute no shame in the way he uses and twist situations to benefit himself. why can't he and joe be satisfied with a number #2. FFS simon doesn't have a divine right to number #1s. exactly that. it annoys me how simon thinks that the xmas #1 is now his to fill. and he goes on about how we're ruining it for joe but we're not, we're just downloading something different. we never signed anything when we started watching the show saying that we'd buy the single at the end. it's just a bonus if it makes the charts surely..

Yes, as people rushed to download RATM to stop Joe, the opposite would have been happening so Joe will have finished off with higher sales than he would have. And Xmas #1 used to be good and fun, I mean where else would Bob The Builder and Mr Blobby  get to #1. It's been 5 years now, since Band Aid 20, but I consider Mad World to be better as that version was horrible really  If anything maybe GA and Popstars The Rivals have some part to blame here, for turning over the Xmas #1 to reality TV. The Cowellster jumped on that success, and it will continue next year, maybe next year, a better suited song can compete. Not such shuttlecocks after all ;)

Do you have any idea what KITN means? nothing is better suited in my opinon.
December 20, 200915 yr Author who gives a $h!t about festiveness? Yes because an awful karaoke version of a MILEY CYRUS song is festive.
December 20, 200915 yr You know why RATM fans dont care about the charts, BECAUSE OF THE MUSIC IN THE CHARTS IS BULL$h!t. It is only for casual music fans, the sort of people who watch that dreadful programme called The X Factor, i'm not saying if you dont like RATM you arent a real fan of music, but the majority of people who do, DO ACTUALLY CARE FOR REAL MUSIC. People interested in charts tend to be deluded fools who buy into $h!t like the x factor, which is what the campaign is about. As I said, radio stations play safe with their music, and they will continue to do so - this will change nothing about the way the music industry works. What this campaign has shown is the power of the internet, and fans of bands such as RATM who don't get promotion should be using sites like Facebook to promote new material, instead of relying on half-assed attempts by rock stations. So are you trying to suggest that nobody from outside the UK ordered the Joe CD from the UK HMV / Amazon etc. websites? Anyone would be a fool to suggest that none of this happened, but I would be condemning Joe fans too if he had got the No.1 instead.

What this campaign has shown is the power of the internet, and fans of bands such as RATM who don't get promotion should be using sites like Facebook to promote new material, instead of relying on half-assed attempts by rock stations. Well, yeah I agree. There is a reason I very rarely listen to the radio, due to the amount of complete generic bull$h!t played. The music industry is f***ed up, f***ed to pieces, I lost hopes years ago, thing si with me I dont buy into the bull$h!t, I am a very very passionate music fan, and I hate the music industry. In the end the music industry is sickeningly business over art. should be the other way round, this is one of the reasons I backed this campaign, and one of the reasons I illegally download a lot of music (on top of buying a lot I might add). The music business needs to change, people need to take a leaf out of Trent Reznor's books.
December 20, 200915 yr Yes, because effing and blinding over and over is really festive! You're just picking out the effing and blinding though - yes there's some of that at the end ... but have you listened to the rest of the lyrics. Having said that there are very few songs I buy because I like the lyrics ... I mainly go for the tune. In this case though ... the tune is great and so are the lyrics. I also like all the creativity the tune seems to have brought out in people via their youtube tributes! I think the song has reached further than the campaigners thought it would. It'd be great if it could get some good sales next week. Norma
December 20, 200915 yr who gives a $h!t about festiveness? Yes because an awful karaoke version of a MILEY CYRUS song is festive. Completely agree. Aside from the fact that the X Factor is responsible for the Christmas No.1 for four years running, I don't think I would mind as much if at least one of the songs had been a bit racy and uptempo - something like Sound Of The Underground.
December 20, 200915 yr better suited song? Do you have any idea what KITN means? nothing is better suited in my opinon. Isn't the song about the police ? pretty sure it was made in response to the police killing rioters in LA etc, if I am right then its meaning has little to do with xmas or taking on Cowell
December 20, 200915 yr Author Isn't the song about the police ? pretty sure it was made in response to the police killing rioters in LA etc, if I am right then its meaning has little to do with xmas or taking on Cowell it isnt a response to police killing rioters in LA, it is more of a anti-war song, it's actually a song against killing at war jsut because they tell you to, it has little to do with xmas correct, I never said it did, I'm not a re**** yanno. As for taking on Cowell, i'm afraid no one has a song that is personally anti-Cowell, but it is a song that unites the people, a song that is telling you to not do what you are told, dont buy a single just because some tosspot promotes it on tv, listen to real music written by real musicians. The whole point of using this song is that it is anti-authority, and that is uncommercial, and that it is everything opposite to the x factor, and it is not radio friendly. why choose a song that could get to number 1 easily, why choose a tacky xmas song? sends out no message at all.
December 20, 200915 yr I still think 'Bullet In The Head' would have been a better song from a lyrical perspective: "They load the clip in omnicolour Said they pack the 9, they fire it at prime time Sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz And mutha f***as lost their minds No escape from the mass mind rape Play it again jack and then rewind the tape And then play it again and again and again Until ya mind is locked in Believin' all the lies that they're tellin' ya Buyin' all the products that they're sellin' ya They say jump and ya say how high Ya brain-dead Ya gotta f***in' bullet in ya head Just victims of the in-house drive-by They say jump, you say how high Just victims of the in-house drive-by They say jump, you say how high"
December 21, 200915 yr Blah blah blah, wrong choice, blah blah blah, same label, bleat bleat bleat, sheep sheep sheep...just offer your congratulations people. Best number one since The Clash's 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' and, whatever the means employed, I'm glad to see something hit Christmas number one that is neither a novelty nor a bland ballad from the boyband blueprint.
December 21, 200915 yr Jeezzzzz. This is the first time in years where the UK actually has a bloody decent Xmas #1. WE SHOULD BE f***ING CELEBRATING. LETS ALL GO MENTAL.
December 21, 200915 yr The moment Bruno Brookes played the uncensored version of Killing In The Name Of on the UK Top 40, 1993. qLqfg9hFjsE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLqfg9hFjsE
December 21, 200915 yr I saw RATM at T In THe Park in 2008. So not my cup of tea. I wouldn't download it anyway, but it's not gonna work. I'd be impressed if they managed to get it into the top40 tbh ok, i take it back. congrats RATM.
December 21, 200915 yr At the end of the day, it's justice for the world that RATM is #1 in the charts. It shows the public want change and have achieved it. Roll on the free gig I may say ;) It's a shame my local station won't be touching it - We have to have X-Factor acts (Leona, JLS, Alexandra, Cheryl) every hour! + the same few songs on endless repeat. It shows that newer artist or forgotten classics in which "Killing in the name" is never get the chance to get some attention. The reason why the chart is static a lot is due to sheep downloading songs from adverts and songs being so hyped you're sick of them after a week or two, plus being backed by big companies. RATM shows people power and a big f*** you to these execs in suits telling us what we can and can't listen to.
December 21, 200915 yr who gives a $h!t about festiveness? Yes because an awful karaoke version of a MILEY CYRUS song is festive. chris ... we may have had some bitter disagreements ...and probably will again..but on this you have my full support, you are totally SPOT ON. i dont get joes supporters, 'the climb' isnt a festive song in the slightest, its no more festive then kitn... this is a fcukin BRILLIANT result, history has been made when music fans stood up for REAL music and stuck two fingers up at the uks greatest arsehole, simon cowell. cowell has done more to subdue and kill creativity in pop music then ANYONE ...EVER.
