I'm no great fan of Danyl but I don't understand the 'Syco hype' thing. If anything it has been levelled out by the media ... because from what I've seen ... Danyl has had nothing but negative press since the series started. And yet in all that ... he managed to secure enough votes from the public to keep him in until now. I thought he handled himself really well tonight ... he was pretty dignified in losing ... and at the end of the day, cavernous mouth and slightly arrogant attitude ... his voice is 100% better than Olly's (and apart from his stupid dancing ... I like Olly).

Of the three that are left ... I can only see Joe having a future ... but only in a west-end musical sort of way ... and he may actually be snapped up by Disney ... a sort of Davy Jones for the noughties!

So if he has not had hype, then what was Simon Cowell's standing ovations after every performance, labelling him the best male performer we have ever had on X-Factor then; and numerous positive stories about him planted in the Daily Mail including the latest http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...tle-cancer.html that was designed to pick up sympathy votes?

Whilst both Olly & Stacey have had negative stories planted about him in the same paper. The piece on Stacey being an unfit mother was particularly offensive IMHO.

And don't get me started which I can't for libel reasons about the two injunctions Max Clifford has allegedly taken out to protect him that a lot of people know about on the internet that cannot be posted on sites like this.

That's hardly hype though is it? I mean he was only (exaggeratedly I'll admit) supporting his act. And just because Simon says that he is a great singer/artist ... it doesn't mean that everyone has to believe it. Besides ... I've seen Danni standing up, and Cheryl for that matter ... when some of their acts have been no better than 'good'. At the end of the day, I'm quite certain ... of his three acts ... Simon has got the one he wanted to get to the final ... to the final.

I can't stand Simon Cowell, I can't stand this show, I hate everytime they show a flashback they play that frigging 'what about now' song ... but I think people (here - and me included at times) have been just a bit too critical of Danyl in this series.

And anyway ... I think it was Simon himself who said this year's show hasn't been a vintage year (in fact ... more like a bottle of cheap Thunderbird wine) so does it matter?

It's alright as long as we take a leaf out of Ian Hislop's book and speak of how allegedly he was caught with a certain other barely legal contestant performing certain acts. They can't touch us as long as we talk in this context!

but I think people (here - and me included at times) have been just a bit too critical of Danyl in this series.

Hear, hear.

I think people hate the way Simon was backing him so much, more than anything. He wasn't the greatest talent there (better than Olly though) but I think people we're far more critical of him than anyone else. He was arrogant for about...2 weeks, but it's all people have ever picked up on. He was better than ever this week too, a shame to see him go.

Nah, ^

The reason why I disliked him was because of his tone of voice, his persona, the way he failed to connect with the audience. I'd say that about 80% of the time, (throughout the whole of the Live Shows), he's sang flat, or out of key, only then to top it of with a belter of a note. That doesn't make you a good vocalist.

Eew Olly's attitude is so sickening, I can't stand his face really. He's become so annoying.
WTF do you mean?! How is Olly's attitude "sickening"? Didn't you say this last week? He's doing exactly what the other two did when they were announced they were through.

If I had to go back to the Final 12 selection, then the three all round best acts are still in the contest IMHO.
Since the first live shows, I've been thinking this would be top 3 pretty much every week. However, I'm usually crap at predictions and usually my faves start to go earlier than I'd hoped, so I was sure something would have stopped this from being the top 3... But this is by far the most consistent final 3 we have ever had, and for once there is no obvious winner and it's the first time now, where I don't care who wins as I really like them all.

Completely agreed. Also ever since he was bottom 2 and had apparently lost his confidence or whatever, maybe the first two weeks were genuine, but after that, to me personally it started to look like it was all an act. That's just the way I thought anyway, not too sure about anyone else.

Anyway. I'm not fussed, because as I've said before I don't mind which act wins now. :D

But Danyl has had more negative stories about him planted than anybody else. Rubbing people in the house up the wrong way, storming out of vocal lessons and being chased by producers, it's been utterly constant. There really hasn't been much attempt at painting him more positively. They all get bad and good press but I don't think his good press has been notable by any means.

This. The whole "bullying" story was pretty much all over the papers through the whole series. Danyl was clearly not postively hyped in the press. Thisispop, I think you're trying to hard to criticise Simon, and sometimes you're getting way too biased that it makes your points wrong.

And anyway, what would be the point for Simon to hype one of his act over his other acts? I don't think he cares as long as he gets a beloved winner that will sell plenty of CDs, so the most clever thing to do is to let the public decide, because they're the ones who're gonna buy the CDs then, so there's no commercial point for him in hyping an unpopular contestant.

I'm pleased Danyl is out. The other three are much better imo and therefore much more deserving to be in the final.

As for the performances, I thought Janet was much better than GaGa! :o

Especially the first half of GaGa's performance was just...boring? I don't know, but it just seemed to be missing something that usually makes a GaGa performance fantastic. Janet, however, I thought was brilliant! Miming, yes, but I thought the choreography/dancing was amazing! ;o

I have to agree, though neither were that good. I was looking forward to both, but they both disappointed. Janet for miming, but it's good to see her performing and I don't think she was bad at it.

GaGa's performance seemed to drag, but I'm not sure if that's down to my family being talking through it. ("apparently she's a man", "she looks like Amy Winehouse", "she's a freak", "this is awful" etc.) The spoken bridges and middle 8 were far too quiet, she may as well have let the backing track do it all. The verses and choruses were better, but not that great. I think the wackier GaGa gets with her performances, the worse they sound. She was so much better with her early "Just Dance" performances and her acoustic sessions. I won't deny that the visuals were interesting at least.

Danyl isn't anywhere near as bad as people here make out as a singer - he has some annoying habits, but certainly I think he was a worthy finalist. Having said that as a person he comes across as odious, and I do think it's right he leave this week.

Janet - WTF. Almost as useless as Mumu.

If 2009 is remembered for anything, it will be when the old "classic" artists like Mumu and Janet finally became irrelevant. They've been well and truly shown up by the current batch of females out there, the GaGa's, Beyonce's, Pink's, Rihanna's and Alicia's.

Oh yeah, Janet Jackson was awful. Her moves were OK but everything else was a complete shambles. Okay she mimed, but she couldn't even do that well. She didn't even try and make it look like she was singing - it was beyond awful. GaGa was pretty good, although she looked so weird. I could barely tell it was her with all the stuff she was wearing. She was pretty darn good though, weird and wacky, but it gets everyone talking which is surely a good thing...

Completely agree. With just about everything, although I did actually enjoy GaGa's performance overall, I just felt something was missing, from her usual performances... :( I also agree about Janet being decent too. I thought her moves were cool, but they did look a bit half-arsed at a couple of points :heehee:

Janet was decent enough. I'll never be able to love a performance like that because dancing has never really impressed me and I'd much rather hear live vocals - it's the same reason why I'd struggle to sit through a Britney concert - but she does dance well, even if her routine is old school, and she seemed to have stage presence.

Gaga was amazing. It wasn't her best vocal perf, no, but the little touches like the few bars of piano, the incredible outfit, the bath/toilet stage set-up - it was all just an incredible spectacle. I can't wait for the Monster Ball tour!

GaGa was FANTASTIC! Just incredible! I wish she came here again that i hope will happen and i will definitely go to see her

Janet was just the opposite. Awful. Miming isn't the worst thing. All those moves were so odd... and to think how she danced several years ago. :kink: I guess you don't need to make up all this dance routine for such an old lady :kink: I suddenly imagined Mariah jumping on stage. HILARIOUS. Plus Make Me song itself is really a scream for DESPERATION.

O DEAR at all this Olly talk again. :/ Oh yeah, we now judge people because of their 'face'. Uh huh.

The order of genuinely nice characters of the Final 3 imo: 1) Joe 2) Olly 3) Stacey.

Hmmm so the public actually voted out Danyl? YAY.

I've never seen the fuss with Stacey tbh so I hope Joe will win.

Like it's already been mentioned though. Whoever wins will be gone after one album...
