HMMM...Casey was sending my current favourite Christmas song, now I'm wondering whether to change. But, to be honest, there aren't many different takes on it, they all sound like the original. At least my current entry is slightly different to the standard version.

 

Ideally I'd have sent a Christmas song that wasn't well known, like I thought this was meant to be, but I don't actually know that many Christmas songs other than the main ones.

I don't think there's that many people about to read that before the deadline thing ends :lol:

I know what you mean, it's more about the songs than the artists. I didn't expect the likes of "All I Want For Christmas Is You", "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)", "White Christmas", "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "Winter Wonderland" etc. to be sent, covers or not. But it's okay, I've gone for possibly the most obvious choice out there, even the title is uninspired. :lol:

 

If we're speaking favourite artist, I very nearly sent Bev doing a live cover of "Silent Night" that I discovered today. I didn't know there were any Christmas songs by her around. But I found that she oversings it a bit too much and it's not different enough. (who'd have though, I can criticise Beverley Knight!) Then again, what I'm sending is essentially a coffee shop version of the song. People might hate it, but it puts a smile on my face and it's a style of music I wouldn't send to the main contest (I'd be surprised if anyone would/has) so it makes a good spin-off entry to me. ^_^

And i'm not so hot on xmas songs either. With Tyron nicking Warm This Winter, the Sugababes utterly sublime cover of White Christmas just seemed perfect. And i doubt i would have sent Santa Baby, Can't quite bring myself to like Jade yet. Mind you, no matter how good Santa Baby is, i couldn't pass over Queen Mutya for Amelle and/or Jade.

 

Haven't quite decided if i'm going to have 3day semi's to knock it down and push results to Boxing day.

yeah, I don't really have the time or inclination to listen to 30 brand new xmas songs in what is definitely my busiest week of the year - 10 hour shifts at work every day!

 

so I'm glad that everyone's picked alternative takes on classics because they won't be so hard to digest :lol: if the rules were that we could only pick brand new xmas songs by unknown artsits I expect it would be EXTREMELY hard to find 30 decent ones and I wouldn't have entered the spin-off for one - finding excellent new songs for BJSC is hard enough, but finding excellent new xmas songs would be something else :lol:
