^ Just when you think of Ruth Lorenzo....she got to 5th place and she would win a singing competition anywhere else in the planet...or Rachel, Laura, etc.

Seems like Joe is holding his own against the Alexandra sales....but it will be a major disappointment if THIS takes the Year End from Poker Face

Nope, I and all my friends and family think that this X-Factor has been the worst one yet. It lost it's mojo from last year.
I brought Gaga into it because again you say that people are daft or unable to deny something that you believe.

Anyway, this isn't iTunes related but i'll keep it short. The media have loved this series. Jedmania. Danyl and all his antics. The live auditions. Live bootcamp. Controversial contestants. And the fans don't think it's the worst one from what i know. I have no idea where you got that from. Maybe it's just your OPINION.

I think Lady Gagas sales do the talking so I won't comment on that any further.

Check out forums and you will see that everyone hated the live auditions, once again the fans do regard this as one of the worst years talent wise the only thing that kept it going were the guests on a Sunday. And what you are saying is YOUR OPINION also.

The bottom line is Joe is nowhere near as popular a winner as Alexandra.

If Olly and Joe this time next year have sold the around 3 million records JLS and Alexandra have then you win.

The only time X Factor 2008 did better in the ratings was the Saturday show wasn't it?

And 19.7 million is overnight figures, I'd imagine its pushed over the 20million mark once its all finalised.

(I know these can vary as i remember seeing Doctor Who overnight figures and then a week later the final figures come through and they're usually about a million higher)

The overnight figures only count the people who actually watched the programme. The final figures include people who recorded it and have watched it since then. At a guess (and that's all it is), the number of people who will have recorded X-Factor to watch it later will be relatively low.

Like any thing with figures you can spin it however you like.

- Joe got 22% more votes than Olly did in the final vote count. That's the highest margin between runner up and winner that there has ever been. Even Leona didnt get quite so high, being 20% ahead of Ray. We could say this makes him the most popular winner. He has also been 15-25% ahead in all the final few weeks in terms of votes. (On the flip side, Steve Brookstein remains the winner who got most votes and look where he is...if you can find him.)

- This year also has one of the highest number of votes. Dermot said 10 million last night compared to the 8 million votes cast in the year's Alex and Leona won.

- It also had the highest viewing figures. Those using the Sunday argument - what about Strictly? That used to be split across two shows and people still compared the figures. Like I say....spinning it so they make their point seem more factual.

I'm not saying it was better this year. The talent was better last year if I'm being honest. I think Diana, Laura, JLS, Alex...any of them could have won. But then again that year also had Daniel which brought it crashing to the ground. This year is by no means the worst as I can't name half the contestants from previous years. Joe is extremely talented and I think it's a bit stupid to say he's not unique or that he's too stage school - do we really need a mainstream pop winner each year? And surely Olly was less unique in that he is just another Robbie. Fine say the song is crap but it's hardly Joe's fault. He's 18 being controlled by Simon and living out his dream.

Like someone already said - it's Christmas!! Why does everyone have to be so cynical and selfish? Oh yes sorry, I forgot this country likes to moan about EVERYTHING!

Do people think the 29p Amazon offer will be attracting many away from iTunes?

really? I think this one was loads better since someone good won. best winner in 2 years really, although it would have been loads better if lucie won.

You are right you can spin it many ways. I would think those extra two million votes would have came from the voting lines being open an extra 24 hours every week.

You could also say Olly was the least popular runner up ever having never been in the top 3 votes on any night and having once bottom once and as a result inflating Joes votes.

Either way I still maintain this year is the worst for talent EVER and it is most likely Simons desire to get a male winner by disregrading females who were actually good [TreyC and Nicole] in favour of the awful Danyl and Jamie.

Most likely I can imagine lots of people will go there.

The reason the xfactor has got ridiculous is, not everyone can be a new megastar. Especially when the winners of previous shows are all fighting it out to stay on top aswell. I mean seriously, if stacey had won, she wouldnt have a chance against leona and alexandra.

They should make the xfactor be on once every two years rather than every year IMO.

She auditioned for Operación Triunfo, the "X Factor" from Spain, where she was rejected in the first rounds of auditions.

I dont think Miley is going to get her first top 10 with TC I have a bizarre feeling its going to peak @ 11  its v corny though so Iam glad.

RATM are doing briliant most controversial number 2 ever v cool for a hard rock band, dont think Ill buy it my grandma though :teresa:

Pleased for robbie zooming up he smashed it on his live XF performance. Definetely the talent from take that.

but joe has physical singles...

If someone else didn't mention that, I was going to.

I agree with you, it also seems like when contestants audition now they think they have a shot in America.

There was a caller on Xtra Factor last night to say he was excited for Joe to release in America and the poor boy was so excited. Little does he know he has no chance. If the winner of American Idol who is way better looking and more talented flops on release what hope has Joe got.

Syco have flooded their own market with all these acts they don't know what to do with. It is literally going to come to a point when there is no room on the lable for anyone. They only employ 20 people which also says alot.

The 18-year-old Geordie is also odds on to top the charts at Christmas and will reportedly be taken to Hollywood to tie up a £5m deal to turn him into the "next Zac Efron".

The fact he has been compared to Zac Efron is laughable.

1) Success/sales doesn't = originality

2) You are right that this year the fans hated the early part of the series (Digitalspy :D) and thinks last year was far better (as do I).

3) Again you are right. Joe isn't as popular as Alexandra in a sense. But in another, he is more. He got 61% of the final vote. Although he has the fact that he's a teenage boy supporting him. Btw, i'm not disagreeing with you about this. I think Alexandra is far better but it doesn't mean her series was more popular. Popularity is ultimately based on the ratings. If you don't like the show, you don't watch it.

4) I also want to add that there is a curse after 1 in 2 series. After Leona won, the next series winner Leon flopped because (not only was he crap but) he was compared to the previous winner. Series 6 echoes this because it wasn't actually a bad series, it's just that if you put it back to back with last year, it looks extremely inferior.

Sony and Simon are two different things he won't benefit at all.

Simon runs Syco which is an umbrella brand of Sony.

It is like saying the manager of Topshop is going to benefit from a spike in sales at Burtons.

But if the manager of topshop is a major shareholder in Burtons, then he/she will benefit from any burtons success.

Simon is a major shareholder in Sony. He will benefit fom any Sony success.

Spain doesn't know talent if it's biting it in the a** ..... it has the worst reality winners I've ever litstened to: David Bisbal being the only exception....

Not everyone can know all this information.

People seemed to think Simon would directly benefit from this just because his label is under Sony.

3OH!3 at #11, think they'll be #10 soon. So pleased for them!

I think it would have been a surefire number 1 if it was released a few weeks ago its brilliant. nice climbs though

Finally got around to joining this site, after well over a year being a frequent reader! :)

I'm glad to see Journey climbing up the chart, and with Glee airing tomorrow night that should give the song more publicity and hopfully gaurentee it a place in the christmas top 10. I'm surprised to see how much of an impact RATM has made, and normally i would agree with saying that i would rather a non-X-factor christmas number one; however this year i'm hoping Joe does get the number one spot, as i do like the song, and i love him. If it had been Olly win i wouldn't have bought it, so the people saying about people being "brainwashed" ect are quite off the mark, i'm buying the song as i like the song, not just because i like The X-Factor
