December 14, 200915 yr 300k. Joe was the best of a weak bunch this year and has been landed with a dire song even by XF standards. He's no Leon Jackson but he's a bit bland and ordinary - can't see the public being inspired somehow. I agree totally. I cant believe how they have given him a cover version of a song released earlier this year. Its really tragic if this gets to number 1.
December 14, 200915 yr Considering the track has lost a day in downloads as the final show was broadcast last night, will he beat sales of 576,046k set by Alexandra Burke last year. Download sales are going to be frontloaded tomorrow, the physical single is not out until Wednesday. I think he will open tomorrow with sales of 150k plus, maybe a tad less, and probably just miss Alexandra first week sales by around 498K Surely if he *misses* them by 498k, he'll either sell 78k or 1074k... :w00t:
December 14, 200915 yr 300-400k Bigger than Leon but not as bit as Leona or Alex. Not sure what Shayne Ward did in his first week. More to the point, what is he doing *now*... :w00t:
December 14, 200915 yr 750,000. viewers for the show were massive so he could sell more than last years winners single. It's hardly as simple as sales being directly proportionate to viewing figures.
December 14, 200915 yr More to the point, what is he doing *now*... :w00t: Still signed to Sony and promoting RATM.
December 14, 200915 yr His version has grown on me massively! It suits his voice perfectly and it's very very good! Hopefully he can top the 400k mark!
December 14, 200915 yr As much as I was dreading 'The Climb' revived, Joe sings it perfectly. It really suits him. I think it'll do about 700K in two weeks with about 504k this week.
December 14, 200915 yr 306k I have brought it and I think it's nice enough but I'm much too addicted to the Glee Cast versions of Don't Stop Believin' and Rehab to give it repeat plays. Now they would make for a nice suprise feel-good Christmas No.1  Edited December 14, 200915 yr by DanielMiles17
December 14, 200915 yr The biggest audiance ever didn't help the finalists group song compared to last year cos this years x factor was crap. Hero is a much better song than You Are Not Alone, with several of the singers (Ruth, Rachael, Alexandra, Laura and Austin) sounding very good on it. On this year's single, only Lucie, Jamie and Joe stand out in a good way, the rest are bland, imo. Back on topic, one thing's for sure: Joe will never beat the 1.1m+ physical sales (at £3.99 a go) that Will Young achieved with his debut, and that wasn't even at Christmas time. ;) But I quite like The Climb and love Joe's voice, I'll be buying it (probably downloading tonight plus pre-order the CD from Amazon), and I'd say he'll sell around 412,750 this week.
December 14, 200915 yr Based on the fact that Leona last year and GaGa this year have both been around 70k the week before Xmas, and the % lead on iTunes is pretty much the same, and allowing for the fact it only has 6 days of downloads and 3/4 days of physicals, he'll do about 475k ish and RATM about 250k maybe? I go as LOW as 250k as I expect they'll get most of their sales from Sun-Tues and drop off later, but if they hold up they could do well in excess of 350k. Won't go within 100k even of Joe though unfortunately :( Edited December 14, 200915 yr by BrayFish
December 14, 200915 yr I hope he sells well, as long as he doesn't beat the 1.2million that Will sold (all physicals!) in his first week :) . That was a phenomenon! Edited December 14, 200915 yr by fatmuffin
December 14, 200915 yr 500k. Needed to be further ahead to beat Alexandra given he's got a day less of sales.

However, I don't think it'll be a straight pro-rata on the 6/7 days of downloads so I think he'll be slightly higher than 475k - hence the 500k+ from my previous post.

The physical sales in supermarkets from midweek will rocket its sales skywards, even though I reckon it will be behind RATM in the first midweeks, but there after I expect it will outsell RATM by at least 3 to 1.

Plus on top of that we had Woolies and Zaavi crashing last year, that gave Alexandra the boost as well, I think the total will be around 450k to 470k to cater for the crash.
