December 15, 200915 yr I dont think Denmark, Netherlands or Belgium constitute as "unusual" nationalities, considering there have been plenty of acts from those countries to score a hit in the UK.
December 15, 200915 yr I dont think Denmark, Netherlands or Belgium constitute as "unusual" nationalities, considering there have been plenty of acts from those countries to score a hit in the UK. I can only call out 1 Belgian artist, 5 Dutch artists and 2 Danish...
December 15, 200915 yr I can only call out 1 Belgian artist Ian Van Dahl, Milk Inc., Jessie, Dee Dee, etc - the Flemish cornered the eurodance market at the start of the decade!
December 15, 200915 yr Several of those acts, such as Gus Gus and Sigur Ros, haven't had a top ten single I was thinking top 40 or even top 75.

December 15, 200915 yr I can only call out 1 Belgian artist, 5 Dutch artists and 2 Danish... Plastic Bertrand is also Belgian. He made the top ten with Ca Plane Pour Moi in 1978. Was just thinking who that group was on B*Witched's "I Shall Be There" -Ladysmith Black Mambazo are South African and have had 3 top 40 hits and two singles that just missed the top 40. They didn't appear on any of the hit singles but the album did make number one.
December 15, 200915 yr But I'm sure that her mother has already a British citizenship as well as him, so in my eyes he's considered to be British! ;) he's definitly 50% Lebanese...when he came to Beirut to make a concert back in 2008, he said he considers Lebanon home and he said he only emigrated beause of the war back in the early 80's.... Shakira is also 50% lebanese, she comes here twice very year to her hometown Zahle....
December 15, 200915 yr Author Hmmm... personally I'd call any of the following nationalities totally normal, as far as having a big UK hit is concerned: UK USA Ireland Canada Australia NZ France Germany Belgium Netherlands Sweden Italy? Spain? Portugal? not sure what to classify those last three. I'd say 'unusual' is Mexico, Scandinavia apart from Sweden, eastern and central Europe, Central and South America, the Carribbean islands, Asia, Africa or the Pacific island nations. Edited December 15, 200915 yr by BrayFish
December 15, 200915 yr Ricky Martin from Puerto Rico. Annabella Lwin (frontwoman of Bow Wow Wow) from Burma/Myanmar. Kyu Sakamoto from Japan (not that many hitmaking artists are from there). And several sources consider Keith Potger of The Seekers to be Sri Lankan - however apart from being born in Colombo, he is Australian.
December 15, 200915 yr Maybe not counting as unusual countries but what about: Norway - Aha Brazil - Morris Albert New Zealand - Split Enz Argentina - Waldo de los Rios
