The show will get axed when Simon decides, the ratings won't decide this. Even if the show did get axed another similar show would be on ITV within a year with Simon behind the helm.

To be honest, the whole chart is a mess from about mid october to the new year because of xfactor.

 

I don't see what's wrong with having Alex, Cheryl, BEP and Lady GaGa's great singles at the top. It's not like X Factor promoted awful artists to the top (except "You are not alone" of course).

what age does give you is the concept of reality. it makes me laugh reading posts that 'gaga will rule the charts for years', she may well that remains to be seen, but she could just as well be dead and gone in 2 years. you mention led zepplin as a band who have stood the test of time, i bet a lot of what you were listening to also fell by the wayside after a year or 2, and you wouldn't dream of listening to it now. older people tend to be more selective, and as they have seen a generation of singers come and go the ones that stick with them are the truely good/great ones. when i was younger id say buy 10 albums a year 2 of them still release albums now, but this year i will buy 4 or 5 albums and i bet at least 3 are still around in a decade releasing music. the older you get the less you buy into the next 'fad'.

I wish people would just get over their problem with The X Factor. Were people up in arms when a single would do well following promotion on Top of the Pops and CDUK? No. The X Factor is the modern day equivalent of a big promotion slot.

Oh please, as if totp and cduk were anywhere near as big and important as the x-factor. And also, those shows were much better because they had a mixture of new and upcoming artists with the big ones aswell. The x-factor is like a musical snob and only goes for the acts who have had previous success (which is the main reason for it being s**t)

Once again like you have done before you have completely disregarded the context of the argument the poster prior to me stated that the X Factor was getting acts to number one. I think you might find that WITHOUT THE X FACTOR EXISTING Leona would not be around. BEP were number one just prior to X Factor. Lady Gaga sold 50,000 singles in the week prior tO X Factor the only thing that sold more than her was Peter Kay who sold 56,000 singles this week. It would have been a very tight battle.

They were going to be number one without XF I just checked the threads and all XF related acts were the only thing ahead of them on itunes.

Gaga was only behind Rihanna on iTunes before she performed on XF. Rihanna also performed on XF hence Gaga would be number 1 without XF.

 

The public do like Beyonce and think she is generally nice. Many critics including Britains awarded best tv critic call her Biffa Cole and yeh she was not cleared of assault she has a criminal record which everyone seems to forget. All I hear these days is how sick people are of Cheryl in a few months it will be evident.

Chris Brown was convicted of a similar charge and has faced the consequences and he gets alot of hate on here. His album has flopped everywhere upon release. Yet this board is so blinded by their love for Cheryl Cole and thinking she is a 'National Treasure'. It is very hypocritical to bash Chris Brown yet praise Cheryl.
