December 15, 200916 yr The show will get axed when Simon decides, the ratings won't decide this. Even if the show did get axed another similar show would be on ITV within a year with Simon behind the helm.
December 15, 200916 yr To be honest, the whole chart is a mess from about mid october to the new year because of xfactor. I don't see what's wrong with having Alex, Cheryl, BEP and Lady GaGa's great singles at the top. It's not like X Factor promoted awful artists to the top (except "You are not alone" of course). The worst track at the top was actually...... Peter Kay single!

It's not like X Factor promoted awful artists to the top (except "You are not alone" of course). The worst track at the top was actually...... Peter Kay single! Alex had a great song. Cheryl is completely awful and untalented. JLS was an awful number one. You Are Not Alone was an insult to the memory of MJ, I hope after this flop charity record they scrap this for next year. BEP and Gaga would have probably gone to the top anyway without X Factor. People are always going to be annoyed by X factor and I think it is fair enough. Great news I heard today everyone Simon has signed the awful Olly with a first single out in April to 'test the waters'.
December 15, 200916 yr lol at wczorajdzonson. I remember the same argument being levelled at me by 'older' folk in 1970, when I was 18, because I liked Led Zeppelin etc etc . 'its tuneless rubbish, you only like it because you're brainwashed, youll grow out of it, why dont you listen to some proper music like Frank sinatra''. That attitude stank then and it stinks now. Mrlovett, you speak the truth. good post. what age does give you is the concept of reality. it makes me laugh reading posts that 'gaga will rule the charts for years', she may well that remains to be seen, but she could just as well be dead and gone in 2 years. you mention led zepplin as a band who have stood the test of time, i bet a lot of what you were listening to also fell by the wayside after a year or 2, and you wouldn't dream of listening to it now. older people tend to be more selective, and as they have seen a generation of singers come and go the ones that stick with them are the truely good/great ones. when i was younger id say buy 10 albums a year 2 of them still release albums now, but this year i will buy 4 or 5 albums and i bet at least 3 are still around in a decade releasing music. the older you get the less you buy into the next 'fad'.
December 15, 200916 yr BEP and GaGa were not on course for hitting the #1 until they performed on the show. Cheryl sure did well for herself considering she's untalented, didn't she? ;) I wish people would just get over their problem with The X Factor. Were people up in arms when a single would do well following promotion on Top of the Pops and CDUK? No. The X Factor is the modern day equivalent of a big promotion slot. December 15, 200916 yr I wish people would just get over their problem with The X Factor. Were people up in arms when a single would do well following promotion on Top of the Pops and CDUK? No. The X Factor is the modern day equivalent of a big promotion slot. Oh please, as if totp and cduk were anywhere near as big and important as the x-factor. And also, those shows were much better because they had a mixture of new and upcoming artists with the big ones aswell. The x-factor is like a musical snob and only goes for the acts who have had previous success (which is the main reason for it being s**t) Edited December 15, 200916 yr by andyboiuk
December 15, 200916 yr BEP and GaGa were not on course for hitting the #1 until they performed on the show. Cheryl sure did well for herself considering she's untalented, didn't she? BEP were going to number that week without X Factor their only competition was Leona. Lady Gaga was increasing week on week until X Factor. Without X Factor this week she would also have been Christmas number one. I hate the what if there was no X Factor arguments but BEP and Lady Gaga are the biggest acts of the year they certainly did not need X Factor to get a number one single. Cheryl is untalented and the public is getting sick of her. She can't sing a note in tune and she is a convicted thug.

BEP were either #2 or #3 before they went on The X Factor, and had been for a while before that. If they hadn't performed on The X Factor, then Leona would've been #1. Lady Gaga also wouldn't have been #1, she wasn't anywere near #1, and most likely wouldn't have reached it without being on The X Factor. The two acts wouldn't have gotten their #1s if they hadn't performed on The X Factor, it gave them the added boost they needed. How do you know the public is getting sick of her? Because her singles and album are selling very well, and she seems to be very much loved everywhere you look. Oh btw, she can sing in tune, and she's not a convicted thug.

Once again like you have done before you have completely disregarded the context of the argument the poster prior to me stated that the X Factor was getting acts to number one. I think you might find that WITHOUT THE X FACTOR EXISTING Leona would not be around. BEP were number one just prior to X Factor. Lady Gaga sold 50,000 singles in the week prior tO X Factor the only thing that sold more than her was Peter Kay who sold 56,000 singles this week. It would have been a very tight battle. PRIOR TO XF PERFORMANCE: http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/263/itunesuk200912052315.jpg Rihanna performed on X Factor as a result Gaga would have been number 1 without XF. Either way to state BEP and Lady Gaga got success with these singles is plain wrong. Have you not seen the amount of hate groups for her on FB. A vast amount of the media refer to her as Biffa Cole. Her singles and albums are selling well as she gets 15 million people watching her every week. She is by no means successful on her talent. I refer to the following article for her conviction. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/3207822.stm Edited December 15, 200916 yr by Berty

December 15, 200916 yr Cheryl sure did well for herself considering she's untalented, didn't she? ;) Yeah, who cares that she was in one of the most popular British bands... what's its name? She'd have been a zero without Girls Aloud... but i may be wrong.
December 15, 200916 yr Cheryl Cole gets too much stick. She can sing! She is not your average pop star. She got into it through a talent show like The X Factor. Which means she can sing...a lot better than most popstars today.

You were stating that BEPs were going to be #1 without The X Factor, I said that wasn't true. You're also saying that with The X Factor Lady Gaga would've been #1, which I also said was untrue, as she was lower down the charts at that point. Without her performance on The X Factor, she would not have been #1. Huh? To the second bit. There are large amounts of hate groups for everyone, the amount of hate groups for Beyoncé and the amount of hatred she gets is stupid. It doesn't mean the public has gone off her. And I have never seen her referred to as "Biffa Cole". And yes her albums are selling well, because people like her and her music. That's why they're buying it. And I thought she was accused of assault, and the charges were dismissed? Oh well, people do change. I couldn't care less, I still love her

Gaga was only behind Rihanna on iTunes before she performed on XF. Rihanna also performed on XF hence Gaga would be number 1 without XF. The public do like Beyonce and think she is generally nice. Many critics including Britains awarded best tv critic call her Biffa Cole and yeh she was not cleared of assault she has a criminal record which everyone seems to forget. All I hear these days is how sick people are of Cheryl in a few months it will be evident. Edited December 15, 200916 yr by Berty
December 15, 200916 yr I always hear nothing but praise, love and admiration for Cheryl Cole. I suppose it depends where you are, but I can tell you, she's not going anywhere, any time soon  :D
December 15, 200916 yr Berty, to bring up the issue with the assault was so irrelevant and immature. Actually it is not irrelevant to the charts at all. Chris Brown was convicted of a similar charge and has faced the consequences and he gets alot of hate on here. His album has flopped everywhere upon release. Yet this board is so blinded by their love for Cheryl Cole and thinking she is a 'National Treasure'. It is very hypocritical to bash Chris Brown yet praise Cheryl. The delusion from some people saying Cheryl is loved by everyone is remarkable. Edited December 15, 200916 yr by Berty
December 15, 200916 yr Cheryl Cole gets too much stick. She can sing! She is not your average pop star. She got into it through a talent show like The X Factor. Which means she can sing...a lot better than most popstars today. extract from Wikipedia: "On 11 January 2003, Cole was involved in an altercation with a nightclub toilet attendant, Sophie Amogbokpa, in "The Drink" nightclub in Guildford (later "Harper's" and now called "The Casino"). Cole was subsequently charged with racially aggravated assault (she had allegedly called Amogbokpa a "jigaboo" and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. During her trial, Cole claimed she acted in self-defence (claiming she had been punched first) and denied using racially abusive language. The jury found her guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but cleared her of racially aggravated assault. The judge sentenced her to 120 hours of community service and ordered her to pay her victim £500 in compensation, as well as £3,000 prosecution costs." She's a racial bully!

They are two seperate artists who equally have lovers and haters
