Posted December 17, 200915 yr John Lydon: 'Coldplay are pointless and tosh' Thursday, December 17 2009, 12:43 GMT By David Balls, Music Reporter Source: digitalspy John Lydon has spoken out about his dislike for Coldplay & Radiohead. The Sex Pistols star blasted the two groups, insisting that they care more about making money than producing good music for their fans. "Coldplay and Radiohead bug the hell out of me because it's so soulless. It just seems pointless. It's nice, but it's tosh. They don't care about you. They care about lining their coffers," he told The Sun. "There's nothing about heart and soul, they don't know about people dying, living, aspiring." Lydon, who was paid £5m to front a TV campaign for Country Life butter last year, formed The Sex Pistols in London in 1975 and scored a UK chart-topper with album Never Mind The B*llocks, Here's The Sex Pistols two years later. The group were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in February 2006, but refused to attend the ceremony, calling the museum "a p*ss stain". Lydon recently admitted that he regrets allowing Sid Vicious to join the Sex Pistols.
December 17, 200915 yr Coldplay maybe, but Radiohead? No. Listen to 'Pyramid Song', 'Idioteque', 'Exit Music (For a Film), and 'Backdrifts. (Honeymoon is Over)' and tell me they're soulless.
December 17, 200915 yr ... he doesn't care about making money though, well unless it's an advert for Country Life butter that is. 8hzQsvxtLTM TWAT.
December 17, 200915 yr As I said at the time when he did those adverts he has lost the musical moral authority to finger wag at other acts especially when it comes to making money. Fair enough criticising Coldplay as they are today's equivalent of Sting, Phil Collins & Dire Straits in the 1980s = over earnest and too damn successful because they kept annoyingly making good records despite not wanting to like them. But attacking Radiohead ...... idiot. Just like when he attacked The Prodigy six months or so ago.

Yes, I can see why Coldplay get stick (yes they are bland but I love them!) but Radiohead? They are easily one of the most experimental bands of the 00s even to the point of losing fans. Idiot indeed.
December 18, 200915 yr Who cares what some has been has to say anyway? He stopped being relevant the moment he went on that god awful jungle show. Edited December 18, 200915 yr by Constipated_Elf
December 20, 200915 yr Sex Pistols and PiL fair enough, but he should just keep his opinions to himself, especially seeing as Radiohead aren't that different in spirit to PiL anyway...
December 20, 200915 yr ... I'm sure he was paid amount when he went on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here all them years ago
