The Glee version is identical to the Journey version. :blink: The only different is the Glee has an acapella intro rather than a piano intro.

 

Those who watched Joe perform 'DSB' will know that his version is arranged different. In his version after singing the line "hiding, somewhere in the niggggghhhht..." he goes straight into the end chorus and sings the lines differently. Can't embed the video but you can watch it here.

Well, I have been frequently checking that thread recently, due to the pointless talk in here. So, on behalf of many, I should think, thanks for updating this as regularly as you do, much better than having to troll through talk about Dappy and the likes.

Wrong. It is up to the publishing company who own the compositions to decide whether or not covers of songs are allowed to be released on record and used in adverts.

 

As a big Beatles fan I know that Paul McCartney was livid when Michael Jackson (who owned the publishing to Northern Songs containing 251 songs of the Lennon/McCartney Beatles songbook which he controversially bought in 1985) stopped the Beastie Boys releasing a recording of I'm Down; and Beck releasing a cover of Sexy Sadie because MJ was aware that both acts had said nasty things about MJ with regards to his "interest" in young adolescent males. Paul has been in the past similarly vocal about MJ allowing Beatles songs to be used in adverts for inappropriate items as he feels it cheapens the music.

 

It also meant since Paul resumed touring in 1989 that he has effectively had to get permission off of MJ to cover the songs that he wrote in The Beatles in concert.

 

Whilst a lot of acts do not allow their songs to be massacred on The X-Factor because of their dislike of what Simon Cowell is doing to the music industry.

 

Indeed the most infamous case to do with publishing is with John Fogerty whom for 15 years was not allowed to perform his own compositions he wrote for Creedence Clearwater Revival after a bitter dispute with his former boss at Fantasy Records, Saul Zaentz who owned the publishing. Indeed Saul Zaentz even attempted to sue John Fogerty with regards two of his solo career songs sounding similar to songs he wrote whilst in CCR!
