Released February 8th as a 12" (and presumably a download), where do you think this excellent comeback single will land?

The official dark video:

What an excellent song - the parent album is one of my top 5 most anticipated albums of the year [especially since it's been a decade since the Lovers Rock album was released!].

And I can't believe that Sade still looks EXACTLY the same as she did in 1984. :o MADNESS!

I'm sure that Radio 2 & local radio will bum this much like they did with Whitney Houston's "Million Dollar Bill" so the album should be a decent seller, and this track will probably scrape top 40 like Annie Lennox's "Shining Light".

Well I don't think it is better than Million Dollar bill, top 75 possibly.
'Lovers Rock' is still one of my most played albums almost 10 years after release so majorly excited for this release however i fear the singles/album will fail to set the UK charts alight

The album's being released near Valentine's Day meaning that it's a lock for top 10. The single won't chart high but I predict will be a top 10/20 airplay hit thanks to BBC Radio 2 which will be good enough to sell the album in the long run. It should also benefit well when Mother's Day comes up in the UK.

Plus she has a hungry fanbase waiting for practically 10 years for this album - it'll do pretty well.

I would love to be proved wrong but really can't see this being huge  'Lovers Rock' was released after an 8 year gap from the previous studio album yet only peaked at #18 and spent 6 weeks in the Top 40, The 2nd single from the album failed to go Top 50 too after which the project was dumped as far as the UK went  Would love it to be massive - I'm sure Europe and America will embrace it more than the UK though.

The last album sold 4 million copies in the U.S. which is where I was going based on that. :o I thought with "By Your Side" going top 20 last time around, that the album sold around 400-500K in the U.K. I guess I overestimated that! :(

I heard this when it first leaked and I liked it but since then it's grown on me so much.

I really love it now and hopefully top 20 or better :D

Sade's one of the finest female artists this country has ever produced, so I can see this going top 40.

'Music for old people'?! What a load of nonsense.... just because she's in her 40s you consign her to the scrapheap? How sad.... do you do the same with lesser talents like Madonna, Bono, Mariah Carey et al?

The single reminds me a little of Massive Attack... which can only be a great thing

I used ".." because, let's face it, Sade don't have the superstar status of Madonna etc and their music is more jazz than pop.. R&b still. Age itself has nothing to do with it. Look how U2's and Mariah's latest stuff failed on singles chart. Or Depeche Mode for example. And only fans bought Madonna's Celebration.

Their music is fantastic but go and ask under 20 year olds if they can name a song by them. (Smooth Operator probably)

Miracles might happen though. They have had only one top 10 hit but on the other hand, they've been away for so long. A Top 5 album is in the bag I think.

I had never actually heard any Sade before this but Soldier of Love is seriously amazing. I saw it on a Lost promo and instantly went "I need to have this!" I would hope this could go top 10 but I reckon top 20.
I'd love it to go Top 10, but i think Top 20 is more realistic.
It's being used in the American promos for Lost's final season, so that should have a positive knock-on effect. I instantly loved it from that 30-second trailer and if it wasn't for the advert I would have been oblivious to this amazing song :o If it does well in America and gets radio backing I can see it just about scrapping Top 40, if not then maybe Top 75/100, I don't think this is mainstream enough to have any real success though. Totally agree with Russt68, it reminds me very much of Massive Attack.
