started out as a rather cheesy proto boyband, ended up creating one of our foremost songwriters.

'young guns (go for it)' was very much of its time, mixing rap with pop funk

'wham rap' they were all at it in them days, before it became the property of black artists

'bad boys' another track about youth culture/behaviour.

then they stepped up a gear

'club tropicana' another excellant pop track heavily influenced by funk beats popular at the time, and still sounds good today... chic influence anyone?

'wake me up before you go go' saw then blatantly court the pop market and gave them their first #1... a good pop song

'freedom' similarly gave them their second #1 , drawing heavily on 60's production techniques .

'last christmas/everything she wants' well last crimbo is now a seasonal standard, personally i love 'everything she wants' drawing again towards slow tempo funk and recites the problems with a materialistic mrs in an unhappy relationship.

'im your man' .. their 3rd #1, back to a thumping 60's style pop track, good stuff.

'edge of heaven', my fav and one of my personal favs of all time. another 60's style production gave them their last #1, great melody, great production, great brass...

What happened to Andrew Ridgley? Anyone know what he's doing now?

youve got the time, instead of asking questions why dont you research him for yourself?

MEOW!

I think he continues to write music but other than that - nowt!

Have to admit looking at Wham!'s discography, they didn't release one bad single. I wouldn't say I regard their first three singles or even 'Everything She Wants' as classic tracks but as Mushymanrob rightly pointed out, 'Club Tropicana' was definitely a turning point in their career.

George Michael was clearly hot property in 1984 with two UK million selling singles to bis name.

I was never a huge fan of them, but I'll concede a few of their songs were good pop songs.

neither was i at the time as their 'pin up' for teenage girls look made me dismiss them as just teenybop fodder..... i was wrong ... now i regard their music as damn good pop whether i like it on a personal level or not. they certainly p*** over anything in the charts today.

Andrew Ridgeley, I dunno what hes doing now, however his attempt at a solo career in 1990 with Shake only managed number 58 in the charts! Come to think of it what did Ridgeley do in Wham? It seems that George had all the talent, singing and song writing.
Andrew Ridgely married the decent looking babe from Bananarama (Keren Woodward) and moved to Cornwall. He's probably got enough money to happily enjoy life down there...

He's married to Keren from Bananarama, and they both have a family and live

in Devon or Cornwall?

I believe he and George are still in touch.

I think Bad Boys, Wham Rap and Young Guns are a bit dated now and were a little too cheesy, but Club Tropicana onwards they did improve and made great tracks that still sound okay today.

George certainly did okay for himself musically.

Their most popular (cheesiest) songs really get on my tits, but I can think of far worse to place near my ears ie 90% of the crap in the charts at the moment!

I agree, I quite like "Everything She Wants" though.
