I hate Glee, their songs are just like HSM, in fact HSM is better...they are awful, their covers have killed the original songs, they've just made them into pop.

They're like the X Factor winner, not doing anything to get success, just doing a cruddy version of a good song, and play it on the TV for the public to swallow up like the tools they are...why do you like Glee?

More importantly do you?

HATE.

It's just a generic slightly more mature TV format of High School Musical :(

Their version of DSB is better than the original, but that's not saying much. The others are AWFUL.

This is the best thing to have happened to the TV show industry these years. Apart from Harper's Island... and Lie To Me... and Psych :kink:

Oh, here we go again with this "swallow up blah blah blah" rubbish. If they don't like it, they won't buy it. If they do, they'll buy it. Nothing wrong with that.

They do well because a lot of people heard it, the songs had (arguably) way more exposure on the show than in the radio, music channels, etc.

I don't like the stuff from the X Factor offers, but the more people heard it and loved it, the more it gets downloaded. End.

Anyway, I like Glee. But their songs having to push some songs down is really a scary thought and I don't like it TBH.

Hmm... I might have talked too much but it has to be said...

This  You should make more posts like that FM :cheer:

Anyway, I love Glee. I hate High School Musical, but this is actually funny, and the songs are classics.

Glee is fantastic...they're being talked about like they are a manufactured reality band or something but it's a music related TV show with soundtrack songs seeping into the chart - completely different sort of thing :o

it's like saying that The Rembrandts - I'll Be There For You was hyped into the charts and nobody actually liked the song, everyone ran to buy it like zombies because it was the Friends theme tune...

This is the proper version, not that rubbish.

It's a show for children. Not for proper music fans.

LOL oh the first three posters are priceless. <3 Judging by their tastes in music and other things they seem like just the right people to talk about artistry, quality, etcetc. Seriously, even comparing Glee to High School Musical means you don't 'get' Glee.

Glee is hilarious. I hope the continuation of the first season keeps up the quality and preferably adds more of a storyline + more characterization. That'd be nice. AND MORE SUE. But it has so much promise. Plus it's so lovably gay lawlz.

Well maybe I don't 'get' Glee, because I tried to watch it for about 10 minutes before I had to turn it off. It certainly seemed to be a hell of a lot like HSM to me.

Maybe I should give it a second chance

Oh please. Of course I do. Comparing it to HSM and X-Factor? Probably not even watched it have you...you've seen the trailer. Saw them singing and just judged it from that alone.

Glee = High School Musical, I don't see any difference really, except that Glee's killed some good songs.

But hey, if yous like that rubbish, then that's fine.

Persist with it. I watched the first 20 minutes of the pilot and wasn't especially impressed but then came the immortal line 'I'm Beyonce, I ain't no Kelly Rowland' and I was hooked from that point onwards  the more you see of it the more you'll realise that it couldn't be more far removed from High School Musical - the only similarity is that they sing.

Yeah no difference at all, except for the fact that they are totally different shows. HSM is aimed at a 10 year old and sing some Lets-All-Stay-Together type of songs.

You wouldnt get the 'Im Beyonce..I aint no Kelly Rowland' line in HSM thats for sure. Glee has hilarious moments and likeable characters who arent one dimmensional like HSM. You and anyone else in this thread who has expressed a negative opinion of Glee has clearly judged a book by its cover.

I have no problem with people not liking this show its just that I dont partically get why you would feel the need to start a thread about it.

Glee is just great harmless fun, with lots of brilliant singers, I LOVE it!

Glee is a fantastic show with some brilliant singers. They've done some amazing cover versions.

The show is very character based with lots of character development and great storylines, it's well written and very well acted which is why i like it. There are some incredibly hilarious moments and some where you wanna give the character a big hug and tell them it's gonna be ok. A TV show that can produce a balance of emotions like that is a winner for me.

These aren't covers by numbers either. If you actually listen to them with open nonbias ears you'd hear just how well the songs have been covered. It's not every day you get to hear a Glee club singing My Life Would Suck Without You, especially this side of the pond where are equivalent are Choirs who'd never sing Kelly Clarkson.

I don't particularly think it's that similar to HSM, but it's a show about people singing while other stuff goes on at the same time, which is pretty much exactly the same formula. The actual show is nothing like it.
I think the concept of Glee is very fascinating, and I wouldn't be too suprised if this years X Factor did something similar. Air the episode, upload a studio quality onto iTunes. It's just ££ thrown at them, and the fans want it. When I first saw Glee, I wanted their version of DSB on my iPod.
If you actually took time to give it a chance the only thing Glee has in common with HSM is that they both sing songs and are set in High School.
