January 14, 201015 yr They won't peak as high in the charts as they will this week, and some weeks most likely won't chart in the Top 40 at all. However, my personal charts have been and will be dominated by the Glee Cast for a long time to come, in terms of plays, they are already my favourite artist with 634 plays :kink: I'm clearly a Gleek and damn proud of it. And btw the show will feature one original song, but the show is about a Glee club - hence they sing covers. I think the cast bring a new spin on old and new classics and brings them to the attention of a whole new generation and people who may not have been a fan of that particular genre before - surely this can't be anything but a good thing? To be fair, you sort of have to see Glee, rather than listen to it with a still screen up. On record, the majority of them do sound like glorified karaoke versions (of those 'fake' versions of hits you get on iTunes) but you'd probably appreciate them more if you watched the show. At least that's how it was for me with their "Don't Stop Believin'" cover. With a similar screen on Youtube, it meant nothing to me. But, in the context of the episode, it's a really uplifting moment and that improved it for me. I'd imagine this will be the case in future episodes too. I think they've ruined Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows", but I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I see the episode and context of it. This is a very valid point, the reason I love the songs so much is because I've seen the episodes. I don't think I would have as big a fan of the music without the story that is behind the covers. January 14, 201015 yr I read somewhere that it's mainly going to be original material when it runs again, not sure how true that is anyway. I'd hardly say they were that karaoke anyway, the versions of 'Don't Stop Believin' and 'Rehab' from the first episode are nothing like the originals and have plenty of originality. Covers or not, they possess more singing talent than the vast majority of the acts in the top 40, and the songs are also better than the vast majority of the top 40. Look at the midweek top 3 - Ayaz, Sidney Samson and Owl City. A Glee top 3 would be infinitely better.

Unless you watch it, then your opinion isn't fully formed as far as I'm concerned. When I first heard 'Don't Stop Belivin' it sounded ok, but it was just an alright cover of a good song. Then I watched the first episode of Glee and thought it was fantastic!
January 14, 201015 yr I agree with Aaron - it's NOTHING to just listen to songs from this show without watching Glee. I experienced it.

January 15, 201015 yr So excited to see the Glee tracks charting. I hope the show does well on C4 on Sunday.
January 16, 201015 yr watched the show on thursday, nothing special imo, very cheesy tho.and as for the music, after watching the show i still dont get how people think these songs are any more than decent cover versions al la westlife.as for the point made early about the top 3 being terrible - im not a massive fan of any of the top 3 on this particular week but imo it would be terrible for the charts if the top 3 were from that tv show with three covers of old songs.i can maybe cope with DSB being there tho. the only good thing would be if younger people started listening too older bands and discover their genius cos their old songs are played on the show.after all it was these artists that made the songs what they are - classics, not the glee covers!!

I find that good percentage sound better as Glee cover then the original. Of course I'm not talking about "Don't Stop Belieiving" or "Proud Mary"... but they are still AMAZING covers. The thing that makes their covers so good is that they make the song their own without changing the song, if that makes sense. lol. Edited January 16, 201015 yr by Tyler
January 16, 201015 yr I find that good percentage sound better as Glee cover then the original. Of course I'm not talking about "Don't Stop Belieiving" + blah blah blah ... That's the only one I've heard that IS better when Glee-ified  Then again, I only like one of the songs they've covered out of the Glee songs I've heard.
