They're back! :o

Damon Albarn revealed that musicians Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Mos Def, Bobby Womack and Barry Gibb would feature on the album.

First single from 'Plastic Beach' is titled 'Stylo' and features Mos Def and Bobby Womack:

Mos Def has stated that he will be made into a cartoon for his collaboration with Gorillaz. Also, he will be appearing as a character on "Plastic Beach" called "Sun Moon Stars". He is a game vendor in charge of carnival games.[18] He also stated that he collaborated on three songs with Gorillaz. He described "Sweep Stakes", the first song he recorded with Gorillaz, as "one of the greatest things that I've ever done".

'Stylo' playlisted by Radio 1 this week already! :D

I believe the release date isn't 8th January :heehee: Quite looking forward to it although i didn't like 'Stylo' :(

how did I miss this album 12 days ago? :s

anyway, mildly dissapointed by Sylo, but I reckon there will be some ace tracks on the album, probaly wont beat 'Gorillaz' or 'Demon Days' though. but then again they are hard to beat.

Sylo could of been a hell of a lot better. I hope the other Mos Def tracks make up for it. definatly weak for a lead single though.

Amazing album cover and $h!t song :(

I like the cover.

although i'm sort of sad it isnt a Jamie Hewlett drawn image again.

listened to the track quite a few times now. it isnt growing :(

The most exciting news!!!

Is the song anywhere on the internet to listen?

On their website:

I'm listening to it right now: sonically very much in the David Bowie' Low album meets Kraftwerk' Trans Europa Express; but remixed for today. I don't like Bobby Womack's singing though.

But the track is very hypnotic.

This is just disappointing, hopefully their album won't be more of this

Oh yes... How come I didn't check that lol

Amazing song!!! A bit of Depeche Mode as well.

I agree, I expected something new / fresh...

After many, many listens, 'Stylo' has grown on me alot.

Initially I wasn't so fond of it, but now everything about the track feels more-or-less right.

I like this alot on first listen, but not sure if it is because I will like the Gorillaz whatever, or if it is a good song. it is mys ort of thing though.

Need to listen to it a few more times before I give a real opinion though.

Can't believe you lot - 'Stylo' is a great track! Most interesting of all on this album is the title track which sees Paul Simonon and Mick Jones on the same record for the first time since 1982.

Best single I've heard in months.... in fact, could be my favourite Gorillaz single to date... it' a grower, stay with it a while if you're not sure... LOVE it... sounds like Metro Area to me, the 80s retro electro-synths. Brilliant.... I'm thinking how awesome some of the remixes will be, too
