I'm not crazy about it at all, I wasn't even defending the song itself, I think you missed my point :/ This cover is random at best, just like quite every all star charity singles we've had in the noughties. It could be #1 or #99 I wouldn't care that much, and I'd rather have people giving their money directly than buying this. And Cheryl's 4 words in the song won't change my mind about it at all.

But the animosity towards Simon Cowell is just SCARY sometimes, some people would get him shot for quite everything he does, without even taking some distance and thinking about it twice. I used to dislike Simon, and now I can't say I like him much, but I don't get why some people get sooo personnal with him on every single occasion. He has handled this project quite well, no big deal I think.

And TIP, are you serious about N-Dubz, The Saturdays, The Sugababes and Pixie?? Most people on the record are a hell of a lot more successful than them.

It's like Band Aid 2000, it was just some of the most successful acts of the moment, they couldn't have EVERYBODY on it. For example Girls Aloud weren't on that, I'm not gonna make a big deal of it.

Sorry but I disagree. All those acts you mentioned have had far more successful "latest eras" than the likes of Mika, Miley Cyrus (over here in the UK anyway - yes PITUSA was a hit for her, but everything else has bombed) & even Mariah!

But yeah, this doesn't look good on Florence for pulling out of a charity record for THAT reason

Miley Cyrus (over here in the UK anyway - yes PITUSA was a hit for her, but everything else has bombed)

Chart sucess =/= success

Miley Cyrus doesn't sell exceptionally well in the UK but is a huge name nonetheless. She sold out FIVE O2 Arena concerts. N-Dubz wouldn't be able to sell out ONE. All her concerts in the UK and Ireland sold out in a few hours. Despite of what her sales might indicate, she is a big name in the UK and obviously has lots of selling power.

Speaking of Girls Aloud (sorry about this but im just suprised no one else has picked up on it) but where are the other 4? I know they're on hiatus and everything but I just found it a bit strange that Cheryl's the only one on there...

There's not enough lines for all of JLS, Westlife and Take That, let alone adding Girls Aloud in there!

The only way to fit them all in is for each one to sing a single word

Lol I think it's starts off OK with the first three, then just COMPLETELY SUCKS after. Shame Alexandra wasn't in the country when it was recorded but she got quite a few adlibs at the end at least.
You don't pull out of a charity record at the last minute, and no valid reason can be good enough for that. What, her indie friends weren't invited, and then? We don't even know who was invited and who wasn't anyway, many might have said no from the begining.

At the end of the day, the people on the tracks are among the most popular acts of the moment in the UK, and stop claiming Simon only invited his friends. Florence was invited and she isn't his "friend" whatsoever, and there must be many others we haven't heard about because they said no from the begining. We've known about Florence cause she initially said yes, if she had said no we probably wouldn't have heard about her, and that must be the case of many other 'indie' acts.

The only reason Simon invited her on it was he knew she had a number one album that week. Same reason as Paolo Nutini is on it.

Ah that's true. I always forget about tours and stuff  (I'm not ignorant or whatever, but it's really not the first thing that comes to mind when talking about success and stuff for me )

It's a right old snoozefest, I'm not downloading something i don't even like, I've already donated and I'll probably

be giving more, but not on this.

Not forgetting all the Hannah Montana merchandise. It's amongst Disney's best sellers!

Global download release on Sunday apparently.

Will be interesting to see how this does in non-UK/Ireland countries.

Wonder if it'll get top 10 anywhere else?

I geuninely think ALL profits will go to Haiti for some reason
Cowell isn't profitting from it

In all honesty, this 'Jedward are vile' creature just seems to be a hate-filled loon. Yes, we all hate Simon Cowell, but you can't particularly fault him here - the man isn't enough of a fool to make a profit off something this high-profile
how do we know that they are not donating money?

Oh and i'm pretty sure Simon will give quite a bit of his own money to the charity.
With VAT/Royalties being waived etc there is no way 100% of this isn't going to charity.

 It is a shame how pathetic you people all look now when I was right all along. If this sells a million Simon will make over 2 million pounds.

I just bought Everybody Hurts, Help for Haiti CD single in Tesco Metro in Newbury - should this have been allowed? I thought it was out next week? They had stacks of them (not impressed that only "at least £1 is donated" but there you go).

No, he won't.

You've got to pay the factory that printed the CDs

The factory that made the CD cases

The graphic designer who did the artwork

The company that delivered the cds from the factories around the UK

The check out worker who sold you the CD

etc.

None of these people agreed to give to charity and waive their respective fees (if applicable)

Simon is giving all the profit from charity, i.e. once all the costs have been paid for, what's left (at least £1 from each cd) will be given to Haiti

The reason why it says "at least" comes down to economies of scale, as more are sold and produced the costs go down and profit goes up, hence more can be donated.

Simon will not make any money, he doesn't need more money and he'd be a total idiot to do so.

^ Its not worth bothering about outlook, some people don't understand the concept of recouping overhead costs incurred in a project and how these differ from profits.

So what is the excuse for all proceeds from every other Haiti charity related song going to charity yet this one is oh so different as it has Simon Cowell behind it.

You are just thinking of every excuse in the book.

Oh please you know aswell as I do that Simon Cowell will make a profit from it.

If they'd made the single download only they would have incurred very few costs & the money for Haiti would have been accumulated quicker.

Cowell may not be making any money directly out of this but lets not kid ourselves that he's just doing it out of the goodness of his heart. Kudos for himself & publicity for his artists to sell more albums & then Haiti in that order.

Exactly if this song wasn't available on cd single then they would have made more yet they wouldn't be lining the pockets of factories [aka Simon Cowell].
