Posted January 22, 201015 yr I know iTunes, Amazon, etc. (on a computer) count towards the chart, but I'm wondering about mobile downloads. I am on Orange, and the internet browser is called Orange World, and from the home-page, there is a link to music downloads (so I think these are offered by Orange). It costs 99p per track, I think, so would these downloads count towards the chart? Also, I know for a track to count, the retailer must have paid at least 40p for it, so I was wondering....if a band really wanted their track to get to #1, so offered a free download to anyone, having paid 40p for each one themselves, would this count? Or anything that might be similar...
January 23, 201015 yr I think paid downloads from mobiles count, i seem to recall Basshunter releasing a song on mobile networks's music syores and it entered the chart at 35 or 36, maybe a bit higher or lower, but free downloads do not count at all
January 23, 201015 yr Author Thanks for answering :) But I think my mobile is charging £1.49 for all Lady GaGa tracks, whilst most other tracks seem to be £0.99 :o

I think the OCC first started including them about 2 or 3 years ago but at the time they only accounted for a very small % of the downloads market. Edited January 23, 201015 yr by Robbie
January 24, 201015 yr If you pay for the track and the purchase isn't in breach of any other OCC rules, then it should count. On another note, my friend and I were wondering about exported physical singles. Let's say someone from Germany buys a physical CD-single on Amazon.co.uk or HMV.com. Technically, that's an export, but it was purchased within UK (a UK store). Does that purchase count towards the UK Singles Chart? I've gone through the OCC rules and the only thing mentioned there are imported singles, no word about exports. Any info on that? Thanx. :)

January 24, 201015 yr As far as I am aware the CD has to be shipped to a UK address for it to be counted as a chart eligible sale. Cheers! I'm advocating for that idea, too. Would be great if the OCC rules defined that more clearly, but oh well... Can't have it all. ^_^
February 20, 201114 yr That's good to know. On Vodafone they have tracks for 99p each or 4 for £2.50 or 10 for £5 or 25 tracks for £10.
