February 6, 201015 yr It's not that it doesn't like it, but female pop dominates and always has. I thought 'Sex on Fire', 'Dancefloor' and 'Viva La Vida' would all finish in the top 20, but number four ahead of 'Bleeding Love', 'About You Now', 'Bad Romance' and 'Umbrella'?!! 'Viva La Vida' wasn't even in the top 30 BuzzJack Multichart of 2008!! I know that, but its hardly the most underappreciated genre on BJ, but people rant about it as if it is.
February 6, 201015 yr So the top 3 consists of 2 artists (imo obviously) who I love, but think have better (quite a bit better actually - and some of those have finished lower) in their back catalogue (but no denying the two left in this countdown are without doubt "pop classics") and one which is quite possibly one of the most overrated songs/number 1's ever? (No prizes for guessing whats what btw :heehee:) Ah well. Thanks so much for doing this Mark. It's been really, really interesting (and some parts shocking) reading all of this countdown. I quite enjoyed ranking them too! :D YES! Kylie's track is far from her best, whilst being a great track.

Now that's surely quite surprising?! TWO MALE ACTS IN THE WHOLE TOP 40!!!!!!!!!! Edit: 5, slightly less laughable Edited February 6, 201015 yr by chart wizard
February 6, 201015 yr Now we have Coldplay at #4 I don't think the other three should ever be announced. It would leave the moment with the expectation that is not revealed. The Kylie, Gaga, Britney can all say they where #1 as it could not be disproved. No one would be disappointed. The thread would go down in history and be remembered as brillant.
February 6, 201015 yr TWO MALE ACTS IN THE WHOLE TOP 40!!!!!!!!!! Not quite. Sam Sparro? Ne-Yo? Coldplay? Killers? Kings Of Leon? But yeah, that's typical of the Multichart. Perhaps if more people with variety contributed...
February 6, 201015 yr 6 acts that include male vocals (Alphabeat :P) I know it's nothing to boast about, but it's still better than the 2 originally posted :P

Actually, Kylie, GaGa and Britney should all be excluded for having too much of an unfair advantage and Coldplay can just be announced as the winners.
February 6, 201015 yr 6 acts that include male vocals (Alphabeat :P) I know it's nothing to boast about, but it's still better than the 2 originally posted :P Actually 7 - The Ting Tings as well :P A few of those songs also feature male artists: 4 Minutes (Timbo and Jimbo), With Every Heartbeat (Kleerup), No Air (Chris Brown), Just Dance (Colby) to name 4.
February 6, 201015 yr I agree about CGYOOMH - hugely overrated, but so is Toxic to me *runs away* in fact I'd have preferred to see Viva La Vida above these two songs  Poker Face on the other hand - universally recognised for being fantastic by fans of all genres, how can it lose!

February 7, 201015 yr wow what an amazing top 3 ...2001, 2004 and 2009 brought us the biggest pop tunes of the last decade. all three songs were huge globally...in terms of sales, hype, airplay etc. etc....the finest pop of last decade IMO.
February 7, 201015 yr I thought I'd just compare the Top 40 in this #1's Countdown with how they finished in 2009 Record Of The Decade (1999-2008) (Top 200) Game: 40 Lady GaGa 'Just Dance' - 7th 39 Melanie C ft Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes 'Never Be The Same Again' - 200+ 38 Kelly Clarkson 'My Life Would Suck Without You' - NA 37 Eminem 'Lose Yourself' - 200+ 36 Scissor Sisters 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - 148th 35 Fragma 'Toca's Miracle' - 43rd 34 Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' - 98th 33 Sugababes 'Round Round' - 36th 32 Shakira ft Wyclef Jean 'Hips Don't Lie' - 113th 31 Black Eyed Peas 'I Gotta Feeling' - NA 30 Will Young 'Leave Right Now' - 200+ 29 Girls Aloud 'Sound Of The Underground' - 48th 28 Sugababes 'Push The Button' - 41st 27 Madonna 'Hung Up' - 82nd 26 Spiller 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' - 25th 25 Eminem 'Stan' - 54th 24 Take That 'Patience' - 62nd 23 Evanescence 'Bring Me To Life' - 99th 22 Christina Aguilera 'Beautiful' - 34th 21 Sugababes 'Freak Like Me' - 151st 20 Gorillaz 'DARE' - 195th 19 All Saints 'Pure Shores' - 59th 18 Sugababes 'Hole In The Head' - 33rd 17 Arctic Monkeys 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' - 26th 16 Pink 'Just Like A Pill' - 23rd 15 Tatu 'All The Things She Said' - 60th 14 Beyonce 'Crazy In Love' - 24th 13 Rihanna ft Jay-Z 'Umbrella' - 2nd 12 Kings Of Leon 'Sex On Fire' - 83rd 11 Nelly Furtado 'Maneater' - 27th 10 Leona Lewis 'Run' - 16th 09 Lily Allen 'The Fear' - NA 08 Leona Lewis 'Bleeding Love' - 1st 07 Sugababes 'About You Now' - 9th 06 Robyn ft Kleerup 'With Every Heartbeat' - 125th 05 Lady GaGa 'Bad Romance' - NA 04 Coldplay 'Viva La Vida' - 15th ?? Britney Spears 'Toxic' - 4th ?? Kylie Minogue 'Can’t Get You Out Of My Head' - 12th ?? Lady GaGa 'Poker Face' - NA
February 7, 201015 yr VERY surprised Coldplay made it o high. I really love the song along with 'In My Place' ut I'm not sure it deserves so high. Kylie and Britney's offerings are in the same boat for me. Both amazing pop songs but extremely overrated and each artist has at least a dozen or so more tracks that I think are a lot better. If Robyn can't sweep it, here's hoping for a Gaga win ^_^
February 7, 201015 yr Out of the 3 remaining I think Toxic is the best, I do love Poker Face also. but CGYOMH is overated imo
February 7, 201015 yr TBH the 3 remaining songs still sounds fresh to my ears, esp. Toxic which I think Britney will struggle to top that.
February 7, 201015 yr YAWN @ top 3. Well done Coldplay, you should've won though. Hope Gaga wins, the other 2 songs are no match imo.
February 7, 201015 yr 08 Leona Lewis 'Bleeding Love' - 861 points (34 voters, 4th in Heat 4) qaGINCdtJjU UK Chart Run: {1}-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-2-3-12-17-16-28-33-37-33-33-41-40-43-38-45-53-54-69-68->28 A pretty huge margin between this and 'The Fear'. After just under half of the votes cast the top 8 songs would remain the same for the rest of the voting and not look like being overtaken. This one was perhaps surprisingly always towards the bottom of it, but it's still a very good position for the song which made Leona a global sensation. Absolute and utter $h!te. No melody.
February 7, 201015 yr Clearly people have woken up to the fact that Viva la Vida is actually good. Songs do grow on people. Bad Romance is immense - in the traditional proper sense of the word. Huge melody and very hard to overplay and much better than the very good Pokerface. Edited February 7, 201015 yr by tonyttt31
