February 7, 201015 yr Clearly people have woken up to the fact that Viva la Vida is actually good. Songs do grow on people. Bad Romance is immense - in the traditional proper sense of the word. Huge melody and very hard to overplay and much better than the very good Pokerface. Bad Romance got old quite quickly for me. I much prefer Telephone, Alejandro and DITD on The Fame Monster.
February 8, 201015 yr Author I never got a chance to do this yesterday, so I shall reveal the top 3 between 3 & 4.
February 8, 201015 yr Author 03 Britney Spears 'Toxic' - 963 points (37 voters, 1st in Heat 2) PNbpdSLnUWY UK Chart Run: {1}-2-4-6-7-11-20-27-18-24-34-50-63-72->14 Although this isn't her best performing single it's always been remembered as one of her best. It's also one of about three of her songs that people who don't like Britney like, which is probably why it's so high. It was always going to be at least top 10 though, just like the other two in the top 3.
February 8, 201015 yr Author 02 Kylie Minogue 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' - 986 points (38 voters, 2nd in Heat 3) MrEr36LRpVQ UK Chart Run: {1}-1-1-1-2-2-7-12-14-15-17-21-21-14-16-21-32-38-53-49-44-47-36-38-55->25 It's fair to say that Kylie had lost her way somewhat in the second half of the nineties. Then in 2000 she released 'Spinning Around' and people were suddely interested in her again. A year later and another new album came out with this as lead single, it was simple and catchy and a hall of a lot of people got caught up in it and bought it, it was pretty much the only song in the top 10 sellers of the decade that wasn't embarassing.
February 8, 201015 yr Well Poker face wins. Hardly a shock since its the most recent of the 3. I really love it, but wouldnt place it inside my favorite top20 UK #1s of the decade
February 8, 201015 yr Author 01 Lady GaGa 'Poker Face' - 1140 points (45 voters, 1st in Heat 4) bESGLojNYSo UK Chart Run: 30-26-28-24-22-15-3-3-4-{1}-1-1-2-3-4-5-5-6-9-11-12-14-20-24-31-26-24-22-24-31-34-38-41-41- 45-51-52-58-54-60-67-60-63-66-70-74-56R(2)-69-51-32-39-56-63-69->54 Is anyone actually surprised at this? I know I'm certainly not. She's captured the imagination of so many people in the space of such a short time that's rarely been seen before. Most acts will lead with their strongest song, but she didn't. She was still launched with a great song in 'Just Dance' but she had far better in her locker, nothing more so than 'Poker Face' which went on to be the biggest selling single of the year. It didn't just beat the rest of the songs in this, it absolutely trounced them. 'Bleeding Love' in 8th was some way off Kylie finishing in second, but the gap between 1st & 2nd was quite a few points bigger than the gap between 2nd & 8th. 75% (45/60) of voters voted for it, 7 more than any other song and although it only got 1 top mark it was its consistancy that made it win. After the heats I thought this had number 1 in the bag, it scored far more points than any other song in any other heat, despite being in the heat which the least amount of people voted in.
February 8, 201015 yr Could see this coming from a mile away tbh :( Ah well, Coldplay are the real winners here purely because they came 4th on a freaking BuzzJack 'best #1 of the decade' list. Toxic should have won out of the top 3 though...

February 8, 201015 yr decent winner, I'd rank it in my top 100 of all time! there were far better songs in this countdown though - thanks for doing it Mark, has been interesting - and happy birthday!
February 8, 201015 yr Pleasantly surprised this isn’t quite as pathetic as some of the previous results on Buzzjack. :heehee: Some kind of manipulation, reducing votes for a song by the relative strength of that artist’s forum on Buzzjack, could put the cat amongst the pigeons and deliver a more balanced outcome. :teresa:
February 8, 201015 yr A decent and not very suprising winner. Plenty of other song I prefer to Poker Face but its a nice enough winner :)
February 8, 201015 yr :o Happy Birthday! :D 10 Leona Lewis 'Run' - 763 Not surprised to see this lower than 'Bleeding Love', but to see it quite low, is a tiny bit of a shock ima. Stunning cover, of a stunning song, by a stunning vocalist! 09 Lily Allen 'The Fear' - 777 Thoroughly deserved to do well but Top 10? Hmm... 08 Leona Lewis 'Bleeding Love' - 861 This is probably a bigger shock to me personally than Coldplay finishing 4th. I honestly thought this would be a shoe-in for Top 3 (With AYN and PF) :o Great song! 07 Sugababes 'About You Now' - 865 See above really. One of my all time favourite songs ever! Surprised to see it so low, but glad it managed to get high! 06 Robyn ft Kleerup 'With Every Heartbeat - 868 Beautiful song. Robyn was perfectly suited for this. One of the best songs ever for sure and the lead single was followed by great singles too. ('Handle Me' in particular ) 05 Lady GaGa 'Bad Romance' - 900 WOW. This finishing so high, doesn't shock me, but in a way I was expecting it to only reach 7-9, because of how recent it is and maybe people deducted points when they were voting etc... 04 Coldplay 'Viva La Vida' - 904 I've said what I want to say about this. 03 Britney Spears 'Toxic' - 932 Great song. But as a big fan of this artist, I know she has ALOT better in her back catalogue! But there's no denying this is a modern pop classic! 02 Kylie Minogue 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' - 986 Also said what I feel about this too :puke: 01 Lady GaGa 'Poker Face' - 1140 See 'Toxic' :P Great countdown Mark. Thanks for doing it! :D
February 8, 201015 yr I just knew it  It is quite ridiculous as there are far better number 1s below it but good idea though, Rabbit Fur Coat and still very happy for Coldplay and it is Buzzjack, so its not exactly going to be totally right
February 8, 201015 yr I listened to Gaga's three number 1s today. Poker Face did the least for me. I dont think it will stand the test of time as well as Just Dance or Bad Romance.
February 8, 201015 yr BuzzJack Chart of 2008: 40 Coldplay - Viva La Vida 39 September - Cry For You 38 Kylie Minogue - In My Arms 37 Beyonce - If I Were A Boy 36 Robyn - Be Mine 35 Mariah Carey - Touch My Body 34 Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire 33 Sugababes - Girls 32 Sara Bareilles - Love Song 31 Girls Aloud - Can't Speak French 30 Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me 29 Britney Spears - Break The Ice 28 Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go 27 Rihanna - Take A Bow 26 Ne-Yo - Closer 25 Killers - Human 24 Sam Sparro - Black And Gold 23 Leona Lewis - Forgive Me 22 Madonna - Give It 2 Me 21 Alphabeat - Fascination 20 Kelly Rowland - Work 19 Saturdays - Up 18 Kylie Minogue - Wow 17 Katy Perry - Hot N Cold 16 Leona Lewis - Better In Time 15 MIA - Paper Planes 14 Britney Spears - Piece of Me 13 Duffy - Warwick Avenue 12 Sugababes - Denial 11 Duffy - Mercy 10 Lady GaGa - Just Dance 9 Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music 8 Jordin Sparks - No Air 7 Girls Aloud - The Promise 6 Madonna - 4 Minutes 5 Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up 4 Britney Spears - Womanizer 3 Pink - So What 2 Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl 1 Rihanna - Disturbia So in the space of just over a year one song has gone from being the 40th best song of 2008 to the 4th best number one of the decade? Now that's surely quite surprising?! It really is quite embarrasing - did we once REALLY rank Viva La Vida below the likes of Touch My Body, Break The Ice and Girls?! Anyway, fantastic countdown, and the results were actually kind of credible :o
February 8, 201015 yr A fantastic Top 7 IMHO. I thought Poker Face would win but expected Britney to pip Kylie for 2nd. Certainly from these results could the dominance of female acts on Buzzjack be receding a little? Anyway a certain annual game will be returning .... quicker than you think. :D
February 8, 201015 yr Excellent countdown. Not too much $h!te high up. as thisispop said, great top 7. Edited February 8, 201015 yr by tonyttt31
February 8, 201015 yr Brilliant countdown Mark. Maybe the results were a tad predictable but overall a great countdown. Happy with the final 3 as they ranked. All three tracks collected points off me but none were my overall fave no. 1 of the decade (that song finished fifth and I still think 'Bad Romance' is fantastic and will never get boring :D ).
