I wasn't even aware of a campaign for this song, what were the exact details of it - to get it to #1? :o I think a combination of X Factor/Joe McElderry, Glee and massively increased airplay (it's always on commercial radio now - they definitely never used to play it ) is more the driving force behind Don't Stop Believin's continued success than a campaign...

There was a campaign tol get Journey to Xmas no.1  They had about 75,000 members and most of them bought it, and got it to no.9, they are still trying tp get it to no.1. I guess most of the help came from those shows though.

I'm the only one who is in shocked how well FIREFLIES is still selling? around 80K this week too... amazing. average song but I'm hoping this could beat Jedward that I hate the most.

That was started when it was rumoured that DSB would be the X Factor's winner single. But yeah I'm thinking it's continued exposure has what's seen it be so successful. Don't like the Glee version though. It's the worst song they've done.

How is Fireflies #1?

I don't get it !

Its not horrendous or anything, it just seems so innocuous.

What would you rather?

Awful Jedward or awful Glee? Be glad it's stopping those 2 monstrosities.

I really like Fireflies as a song... It's nice and different =)

Jedward at number one would be TERRIBLE. I mean... It's embarrassing from the UK

The voting stats DO NOT matter? In that case Lucie Jones should definitely have been saved instead of Jedward.

Different topic altogether

what im trying to say is some people would say Jedward werent very popular because they were in the bottom 5 every week despite late slots- but its not true as they were very popular

anyway, X factors finished now  - Jedward for number 1!

technical question, from neutral point of view,to the chart experts:

Why a song number 2 on Itunes and number 9 on amazon, with no physicals out yet,has nearly the same sales of a N. 1 on both Itunes and amazon also with physicals available?

OC has no physical either.

Not sure regarding your actual question, I'm fairly certain Jedward will drift away tomorrow unless they're now at #1 on iTunes (iTunes is frozen so we can't tell)

In the past such things have occured because there has been significant downloads at another site. The reason for that could be a download link from the artist own website or perhaps an email to all members with a link to buy the single. Another possibility is some recommendation for download from a facebook group.

Westlife have been know for special download option for fans. As Westlife and Jedward are signed to the same person wouldn't surprise me if you can text a number to buy the single etc.

Thanks,that makes sense now.

With OC not on physicals either,it´s all down to downloads and as Itunes is frozen we can´t tell, although on amazon Under Pressure is being overtaken by Timbaland and Marina tonight.

It is possible, at least if iTunes is a 48-hour rolling chart. Jedward could have been the most downloaded song just on Sunday alone, but Owl City's extra Saturday sales kept it at no.1. Then Owl City could have outsold them enough on Monday to make up for the Sunday deficit and its Saturday sales dropping off, thus Jedward never reached no.1 on iTunes. But it's hard to say. Owl City did increase the lead on Jedward yesterday but who knows if that was because of them dropping in sales or Owl City gaining. If my theory is true, then Owl City should be much further ahead tomorrow, anyway.

Of course this is making some assumptions - I'm not even sure what timeframe iTunes covers tbh.

Just made an observation, the top 9 singles are all available on downloads, with no physical attached.

I may be slow but I haven't been online all day.

Jedward sites are recommending downloading from iTunes, Amazon, Tesco, 7digital or play.com

Maybe if they really want to get the #1, they should change the "or" to an "and" :P

So they don´t use a dedicated link outside the main websites?
