But it's still hilarious. I always do friends quotes at college.

It's just nice for nostalgia value tbh. :(

Some of the newer episodes still seem fresh today.

Tbf, I'm kinda disappointed about this, even though I've seen every episode like a million times!..
Im disapointed about this news aswell, even though i have the complete friends boxset in the house i always like to watch it on tv aswell, still rumours are comedy central are buying it so i will watch it there. I was surprised when i read friends still manages to pull in around 400,000 viwers everyday which is great for a a channel like 4 especially in its time slot, it shows there is still a big appetite for friends after all this time.
Fox still insist on renewing The Simpsons and giving it new episodes tho.

Which are naff, not like the old days. And how often do C4 get new episodes? Are they far behind Sky1?

'Friends' will never die. It will always repeat somewhere ^_^ We'll all be in OAP homes and it'll be on trust me.

I did use to love watching it on E4 when I got home in the evening though. I have them all on DVD to keep me going at uni though :heehee:

It is THE most over-rated show ever made IMO... When it began, I actually found it rather charming... A bit fluffier than Frasier or Cheers, sure, but decent enough... And if it had stayed at just being seen as a bit of inconsequential "harmless fluff" and not developed a whole slightly worrying CULT around it, then perhaps I could have found it at least bearable as it went on... But the more it went on, the more utterly annoying it got.... Until it got to the point where I wished glass and bits of metal from the fukkin Twin Towers had collapsed on top of Central Perk and killed the whole cast...... -_-

I think it really IS about time to call it a day on the repeats already....

It is a shame. Even though I have the boxset it is always good to have Friends on if there is nothing else worth watching. Hopefully it does move to Comedy Central though. Friends and Frasier back to back would be ideal. And they should get rid of Two and a half men while they are at it - a show that used to be very good, but has turned into a parody of itself in so many ways. The latest season is beyond appauling imo.

I'm not sure how far Ch4 are behind Sky1. I agree, The Simpsons has been on too long.

I personally, am glad to see new shows. Hopefully this should free up some money to bring in more amazing US shows like Glee and True Blood to C/E4 and develop some new British shows. I never really found Friends to be that funny, i'll take Will and Grace any day of the week over Friends. Preferably Season4, by far the best W&G season.

every show i like and watch on channel 4 is getting the axe, big brothers, how clean is your house and now friends that along with axing brookside a few years back is really putting me off channel 4 although im still a huge shameless and inbetweeners fan so theyd better not axe them or il never watch the channel again.

and It's Me Or The Dog! Victoria Stilwell ftw!

So you hate the fans of the show as opposed to the show itself?

This is a shame :( I always watch it on E4 to fill in time of nothing else being on :( Sad times.

Well, TBH, I think it's about time that Channel 4 actually did "clean house" as it were, and get rid of the crap and go back to being the cutting-edge channel it was in the 80s and 90s... Brookside was fine when it started, then became a ridiculous parody... Big Brother is just the biggest poison on television as far as I'm concerned, which is unfortunate as it started out with good enough intentions...

I still say Channel Four gave us the best Music show of all time (The Tube), the best Live Variety/Comedy Show (Saturday/Friday Night Live), some truly fantastic drama, and with its film company Film 4, gave us some of the best British films of all time....

Nope, the show became annoying too... Unfortunately it seemed to become more annoying when it became this over-hyped cult.... And it didn't help when the actors thought they were somehow "bigger" than the show itself....

I mean, put it this way, just how successful have they actually been Post-"Friends"....? Jennifer Aniston has just been playing variations on Rachel in every film she's ever done, Matt LeBlanc's spin-off show "Joey" FAILED, what the hell has Matthew Perry done that's been any good..? Lisa Kudrow, not exactly setting the cinema screens aflame either... Courtney Cox, had some measure of success to begin with with the Scream films, but her big comeback show "Dirt" was a fail (even though it was actually not bad at all ironically. Obviously the Yanks couldn't handle seeing her playing such a vicious character), and, er, David Schwimmer????

Frankly, I'd say Friends has been a bit of a fukkin' curse for the actors...

I remember being in a Media Studies class and getting absolutley hammered for NOT liking Friends by my teacher, she played a clip and asked who liked it, I was the ONLY one out of about 25/30 students to not put my hand up, and the teacher started shouting at me saying "how is it possible to not like friends?"

I just don't get the love for it tbh, its ok and bearable don't get me wrong, but I just don't find it amazing tele. I think I generally prefer British comedy though!
