maybe the mistake was releasing 'happy' first. it's one of the weakest on the album, and IGY would have done well as a lead single, better than 'happy' anyway.

but yeah, it's not looking good for leona. :(

Agreed, what a huge shame. Think I'm going to buy the single just to help them out! The album is brilliant, I hope they get another chance...or maybe just turn into more of an album act?!

 

 

Well, Alphabeat is still doing well in Denmark, so at least they have a market where they can continue to release and record stuff, even if it won't make a dent internationally.

Id be shocked if any of tonights Glee songs make the top 10 this week. They werent anywhere near as strong as previous ones, and with the album at #1 surely all the singles will fall quite rapidly.

 

Im just happy that Sugababes are #6 aiming for #5, how different things were this time yesterday!

People are tired of Leona's voice, singing style, and songs. I'm sure her few remaining fans will continue to support her, but she needs to attract new fans which she's not doing. I Got You is out now and the album is going downward rather than back to the top 20. Her songs aren't high quality or even remotely distinctive or interesting. I really expected her career to last longer than two years, but she's finished -- unless there's a major shakeup with her direction, which I don't think will happen.

599K are the poor souls who received Echo as a Christmas present.

 

I would have liked to see Echo's sales if it was released now or in the summer.

 

 

Back to the chart: It looks like we finally have another new artist who will sell (and capture the public's interest) like Duffy. I hope Ellie's album has less filler than Rockferry.

600k isn't bad if you are selling well all over to, but she isn't. shes on a major label with major backing, her sales are nowhere near what im sure the label had hoped for.

Leona doesnt need a hit single now. Her album sales are solid, and the focus is moving towards her tour which undoubtadly be a huge success. This isnt Leon Jackson, Simon Cowell isnt going to just let a star like her fade away.

 

Compared to Sugababes who really need a decent sized hit to help launch their album. Sometime singles dont matter at all, or are vitally important.

 

Very annoying how itunes freezes for hours each night! Do the staff all go home for the night or something?!

Spot on. I said it before and I'll say it again - she needs to dump Simon Cowell or she'll never move on as an artist. The man does not have a clue about making a long-term successful artist. It says it all when the two most successful acts from a reality show in terms of lasting appeal are both ones that broke away from "the machine".

 

I have to say I am disappointed tbh as a couple of years ago I did think Leona would last. But now it's obvious to me that she won't - Echo was a complete shambles, with no artistic growth or change AT ALL. Just the same turgid formula as Spirit.

They are still relatively healthy, but the huge drop from Spirit is telling. Echo sold a lot on hype but now a few months later it's down at No.58 in the charts. And let's not forget that worldwide it's hardly done a thing. It suggests to me that unless she does something different for her third album (which I would be overjoyed about), it'll have even worse sales, and then you'll REALLY have people saying her career is over.
