Lemar and Will Young are the most successful because they have evolved as singers and performers, they are versatile and they write or co write most of thier own material.Plus in terms of longevity in the UK which still has a sniffy attitude towards reality show comtestants they have had a good innings.Shame dont hate on Peter Andre he survived living with that B***H and seems to be a fairly good guy.I do think he should concentrate on his budding career as a tv host his songs are just drivel.

Leona lewis had a massive world wide smash of an Album and single yes, but to say that she has achieved more than Will is a joke you seem to be the only one not getting, Her singing career is stalling on only her second album while He is on his 6th..and what then for her? She couldn't not possibly diversify into all the other areas of entertainment that Will has.

 

Will young has not performed at the opening of the olympics, sold millions worldwide, made #1 on US single/album chart, #1 in over 30 countries, hasnt had one album selling 3million in the UK, the list goes on...

Just because they have been around longer it easier to back them, but you'll see in 4-5 years leona will just be adding to her millions of sales worldwide.

Leona has also collaborated/performed with the likes of take that, il divo, one republic, ne-yo & justin timberlake.

Yes its a shame the bore can't sustain it through a 2nd album - unlike Will who actually outsold his 1st album with his 2nd... but the comparisons to him are silly anyway.

 

She's a dull artist who hasn't really grown which people seem to be getting bored with.

The difference being Leona had Cowell behind her on all his shows to promote the mare - Will had nothing like that and the Cowell even distanced himself from Will.

That's not the point. Will's first album wasn't anywhere near as big as Leona's was, so it was miles easier for him to outsell it, than it is for Leona to outsell Spirit.

Yeah but, but, yeah but, Will has performed with Queen (the group) , privately for the Queen and Prince Charles twice, Burt Bacharach, Ruby Turner, One Giant Leap, The Producers, Nitin Sawhney, Groove Armada and James Brown (twice) and Elton John, he's performed at V festivals, T festivals, Glastonbury and loads of others, also Ronnie Scotts Jazz club. (twice) He's done god knows how many tours and I'm getting pissed off now so shurrup. :lol:

Her sales would be higher? It came out 4 years after Will's, when sales had taken a significant tumble. And so she should promote, it's not exactly a bad thing. Oh, and Echo is nothing like Spirit btw ;)

In case Leona Lewis fans were not already aware .... it is well known that Simon Cowell wanted Gareth Gates to win Pop Idol not Will Young. So he was rather disappointed with the outcome of the public vote.

 

This view has been backed up by Pop Idol co-judge Pete Waterman's second autobiography & former editor of Heat magazine Mark Frith's autobiography who was there backstage on the Final night.

 

Whilst Will Young fans would be able to testify that Simon spent more on the budget for Gareth Gates first few videos than on Will Young's. Hence, it is little wonder that Will Young and Simon Cowell had a falling out.

 

Taking that into account, if Simon had wanted Ray Quinn to win X-Factor 3 instead of Leona do you seriously think Leona Lewis would have sold as many records as she has done and had so many opportunities to promote her material?

 

For the record I think Leona has an amazing voice, I'm just dismayed that she has had so much bland and mediocre material thrown at her. When given a great song like Bleeding Love; Better In Time; Run; and her performance of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love at the Olympics she sounds brilliant.

 

Yet surely Echo would be selling far more had they released the brilliant uptempo Outta My Head as the lead single instead of Happy; and then follow it up with adding I See You (Theme from Avatar) as a second single and have a greater credibility with neutral music fans too .....

Well tbh I think that sort of thing is totally unfair.

 

Every artist has their OTT loons who put people off and do their fair amount of baiting.

 

Can't say it ever puts me off an artist though. I just find that weird.
