Like I said its not Leona I hate-I actually think she's quite good-its her fans who hate people criticising her and yet go on themselves to bait others by slagging off Will Young/Alexandra Burke. If you can't take it, don't give it.

 

I agree with your sentiment don't dish it out if you can't take it. I really have no problem with Leona, although I don't like her style of singing, but that's just my personal taste. I actually find most Leona fans on here very fair minded with the one exception who seems to constantly bait the fans of other artists then acts surprised when others others retalliate.

 

We all think our favs are the best that's why we are avid fans.

As Theo pointed out she's behind Will Young and GA in the UK, and other have mentioned Carrie Underwood and others for the US.

 

And as i mention Kelly Clarkson is the most successful. Thankful was huge in America, Breakaway and Spirit's WW totals were similar and All I Ever Wanted has done brilliantly. My December hasn't done much but Echo is still to outsell it or Thankful.

Every artist has their OTT loons who put people off and do their fair amount of baiting.

Leona seemed really lovely on a recent interview I saw. I didn't realise she was classically trained.

 

They're both very good singers but neither is my cup of tea. I prefer lower voices.

The difference is, Cheryl dances a lot when she performs. I don't condone her miming, because I think miming is wrong, entirely. But she at least dances when she's on stage, whereas Britney just walks around and mimes.

People who think sales equate to goodness make me lol. We're talking about a Chart system that has put Mr Blobby, Chico and Crazy Frog at #1.

 

this. this forum always makes me laugh in that because most people on here support major label acts who churn out the same rubbish album after album, they don't exactly have anything to harp on about bar sales. it is not like they can point to ways in which their favourite act influenced music, or how you can see growth through the career. heck half of them cant even perform live, let alone write a song or play an instrument.

I don't hate Leona, but I do think she's incredibly over-rated. It's sad that already she seems to have peaked and is on a downward slide. That's the danger with such a huge initial success, it's not always a good thing.

 

Some of her fans however seem incredibly in denial. They are celebrating a no. 14 for a second single off a second album. The album sales are pretty static, which is what the record company will fret over most.

 

And before I get told off for a Will and Leona post, this is my first and last word on it, I felt it needed saying, right! :P

Its a bashing thread, you can bash away at who you want even if its Will and Leona again! Although I can see everyones point. Perhaps we need a Will Vs Leona thread.
