I don't mind facebook campaigns too much, as long as they're 'casual', like getting a song into the top 40 or a top 10, as they don't massively effect the overall chart.

I heard there's going to be a fairly high profile Facebook campaign to get 'God Save The Queen' by Sex Pistols to no. 1 in the week of the Queens' birthday.

Then come Christmas 2010 I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's a campaign to make 'Fairytale Of New York' a million seller - it would need to sell about 600k but if RATM could sell 500k in a week it is possible if enough people get involved. It exploits the UK charts just as much as record companies did 10 years ago with single releases.

:drama: TBH.

charts were supposed to be what is popular and not if a song with a title that has a word Queen needs to go to #1 just because she has a birthday.

its okay i'm good lets go! what a tuneeeee! addicted to pass out now ! lol

I just thought I look at the Amazon.co.uk chart for all the newish tracks and it makes interesting viewing:

1. Delirious? (Also at #2; #25)

3. Scouting For Girls

5. Plan B

6. Wurzels

28. Glee - MLWSWY

30. Alex Gardner

64. Glee - DROMP

65. Adam Lambert

Oh dear Justin Bieber

Rule The World is probably the biggest example of 'song that should been #1' of the noughties, maybe along with Chasing Cars, if we're talking about cultural impact (and I HATE Chasing Cars). Considering it's probably their signature song now, ahead of all of the other classic's they've released in the last 20 odd years, I definitely think it 'should have been a #1', shame they didn't release it a week earlier :drama:

Perhaps if Take That had the huge leg-up of performing the song on X Factor in front of 10+ million viewers (something that Leona Lewis will always be guaranteed) then maybe they would of had a chance of Rule The World getting to no.1, but of course Cowell wouldn't of allowed that because he's always so desperate for his Golden Girl to take all the plaudits. He was naive this year and allowed Black Eyed Peas to beat her to no.1 but you can be certain he'll never let the same thing happen again because, as I say, he's so desperate.

Never. You'd have had to have been walking around with a white stick not to figure that one out.

I must have lost my white stick, as I never even suspected.

To be honest, Bleeding Love was guaranteed to be going to #1 anyway, without the X Factor performance.

I have to agree with this. The hype leading up to it, coupled with the fact that it was a pretty good song (brilliant song considering what people were expecting for a 'talent show' winner) plus ... it was there for seven weeks wasn't it? I think this means that the only way RTW could have been number 1 would have been for BL not to have been released (the same week). Take That f*cked up themselves ... they should have seen what was going to happen ... the airplay, the fact that BL in one form or another had over 60 million views on Youtube (what the hell do TT's publicity people get paid for?) It was either gross stupidity or gross arrogance for them to release the same time as Leona.

Lol at the Delirious? campaign actually working, I wonder if it'll be top 5 on Sunday :o

Now! 75 has a lot of entries in the T100 now, but not many of them are having much effect on the songs - it's only really Bad Romance and Starstrukk and TiK ToK being affected.

The two KOL singles have been hit down further than normal this week, but both are probably still around the top 100-110 when everything's combined. I think SOF is gonna drop out of the top 75 this week, and US out of the top 100 again. I wonder if they'll recover from it this time like they did after MJ?

Totally true Norma. They should have released it the week before...although i guess it had to be released that week to coincide with the movie?? Either way....it is my favourite Take That song, but it IS a shame it was denied a number one (which it would have achieved easily had it not been up against Leona...)
