I'm having a similar situation. Got 9 songs I definitely have to vote for, but another three that I love pretty much equally. Can't decide which to give the point. It's always annoying getting in a mess over *only* one point, but I don't particularly want to snub any of them. I can't say I feel that about some I am voting for, but I do like them more.

One of the songs I'm struggling with was one I didnt even vote for in the semis, but boy did it grow on me. Maybe to be fair I should exclude it since the others I did vote in the semi? Would get my 10 then, but still, it's pretty annoying cos I wish I could give it points too, even if just 1.

The only rap that I can stand are Keri's 'Knock You Down' and 'Turn Me On' :wub: (probably there are more but can't remember them at this time :P)

Good choices! Kanye's rap in 'Knock You Down' is :wub: Lil Wayne is amazing in the Pop/Rock - Rap combos. They're alot more preferable when they're the featured artists though. But when there is a generic sounding female singing the hook/chorus with the rappers doing the main verses, Jesus they can be just as amazing (See 'Good Times' & 'Oopsy Daisy' as recent examples :P)

 

I was a MASSIVE Wearing My Rolex fan when it came out, and Roll Deep were behind the first rap track I was truly addicted to actually - The Avenue in summer 2005 :wub:

I was shocked I liked 'The Avenue' as much as I did. But I think the track that got me properly into rap (which soon crossed over to RnB) was Nelly's 'Ride Wit Me' & Wu Tang Clan's 'Gravel Pit'. But 'The Avenue' was so good.

Hah same here! I loved it, along with Missy's "Get Ur Freak On", Eve's "Who's That Girl", all from 2001. Didn't care for rap at all before that, although the classics were always good like "Gangsta's Paradise".

I have now voted at this ungodly hour. I did my listening wayyy earlier, but it's taken me ages to think about that 1 point situation. :drama:

I excluded 2 or 3 I voted for in Semi 2, in favour of one I ranked about 15th originally in semi 2 which grew on me to an extent to give it a few points in the final :D It's the sort of generic thing that doesn't hit me until it lodges firmly in my head and I find myself humming it at work :heehee:

Back in 2002, no I hated rap in most cases so probably wouldn't have been impressed but the only current example I can think of is Empire State Of Mind, and to be honest I prefer the Jay-Z/Alicia version to the Alicia solo one (even though I'm bored stiff of both of them now).

 

Jay-Z destroys the song for me. I like the solo version far far better.

 

Another example would be the awful Kanye West in "Hurricane" by 30 Seconds To Mars. Epic song (my favourite atm), but only without him. :P

 

The only rapper I like at least a bit is Eminem, tbh. :lol:

In a weaker contest, the song I ranked on position 19 would have still had chances for point(s). So yeah, this is a very strong final.

The final was a bit disappointing really. Everyone seems to say it's great but it's not really. As usual, there are some songs I can't stand.
