But have you not read a single thing I said? We do criticise it, when it deserves it. Criticising it simply for being the show it is, as Rob does frequently, is not the same thing as having a critical eye and after a while it becomes majorly annoying to have to keep wading through it.

I know you mean well but frankly Adam I'm quite affronted to see you suggest that I'm just a mindless fanatic who doesn't know how to be critical and if you think that aside from Rob 'everybody agrees with each other' when it comes to EE then I'm a bit perplexed as to what thread you've been reading. No matter though. I can see that my opinion on this matter isn't wanted so I'll refrain from using the EastEnders thread in future and Rob can hate to his heart's consent.

You're twisting my words. I did not accuse you of being a mindless fanatic. I exaggerated my point for effect - what I'm trying to say is if we block one person's view because we don't like them, then that puts us up on the start of a very slippery slope, where we could a while later down the line eventually end up in the position where we BECOME mindless fanatics, no criticism allowed.

It is totally understandable to critsice a show and even us real fans of EastEnders do that, but there are 2-3 posters that if you go back and read their posts in this thread about eastenders 95% of the comments are negative. Fans like myself and Jark are not syaing eastenders is perfect and that everything is always brilliant because its not, but reading posts that slate the show from start to finish indicate that viewer is not a fan. If people want to be in the thread as critics that is totally fine, but if you;re doing that you should have an open mind and not have a completly bias view towards the show.

What I don't particularly understand here is that Rob's main criticism of said episode is a character slating gun crime? It seems he's more bothered about it 'preaching' a left wing message, rather than criticism of the storyline. Why wouldn't a mother preach to her son after he was the one who got the gun that ended up putting her brother in hospital?! You constantly moan about it being unrealistic, dancing around it would be a heck of a lot more unrealistic. Preaching isn't exactly out of character for Carol, is it?

I don't watch Emmerdale any more (had to cut down to two soaps, but it sounds like I'm missing a good storyling with Aaron) but could the Olena storyline not be seen as a little preachy? Like Jark said, trying to show she's a good person and not in it so she can stay here. I can't comment on the Aaron storyline, as I've literally missed every bit of it, but it sounds like they're trying to get across how it's okay to be gay. (in the same way that Eastenders is trying to say gun crime is wrong?)

Anyway, I actually came here to say how I enjoyed this week. Loved the swift disposal of Ben's cake by Shirley, then his revenge on the rabbit. I'm also liking Ryan/Janine after being unsure initially. Pat and Peggy giving the guy a heart attack through shouting was (unintentionally?) funny. (isn't that how Pat killed Roy?!) I'm also liking how we're getting back into the Masoods/Christian storyline as it's been a while since anything's happened with them.

Who don't people understand this? Criticism is fine if it's warranted. The great majority of episodes have plus and minus points and are not perfect but at the same time are not dreadful from start to end. If you look at Rob's last ten posts in this thread at any given time the last nine will be nothing but 'yet again another load of crap from crapenders :grudge: I don't like this storyline, I don't like this character but I'm not going to justify it' etc etc. How can anybody say the fans of the show are one-sided and then come in continually to post the most amazingly one sided criticisms?

Anybody who has read this thread will know that I'm firm in my criticisms of the show when it deserves it, ie during the Balham crew storyline or when Danny is on screen to name just a few recent examples so frankly I think to even attempt to call me (or feelthefever) out as being blind fans is exceptionally lazy and frankly an insult to my intelligence.

I don't mind Norma's postings because she does praise the good bits but Rob simply doesn't. Occasionally he'll admit that somebody is a good actor (after he's been called out on an essay of a post slamming the show and not even recognising a single decent actor or scene) and then every time he posts after that he uses his 'praise' of said actor to justify continually slamming the show. I'll not post in this thread again if anybody wants to tell me that that's a fair way to behave and not just an act of spite.

Thanks Osiris, by the way, for trying to stamp out the arguments in here but like I said it might have to be me who leaves if Rob has genuinely convinced himself of his objectivity.

ffs jark, if you dont agree with any post critical of ee, then ignore it

simples

theres no need to create a mass argument just because YOU dont agree with the criticism.

i post what i see, i dont think ee is any good but it SHOULD be, as ive repeatedly said.

i know im being objective, what other reason would i have? arguing for the sake of it?...pur-leez... i have better things to do with my limited time online. (hence why i dont comment on every episode, i could do, now that would be ott).

i dont hate eastenders per-se, i hate the way its being produced, the half baked storylines, the preaching, the ott hyperbole, the un-likeable characters, because historically it wasnt like that sonny... eastenders was one of my favs, the characters were likeable (like emmerdales are now, i like them, id like to be part of that community, hence i like emmerdale) id hate to be in albert square now. theres no one i like or if it was real life would want to be mates with.

the thrust of my criticism is that it aint the programme i liked, this frustrates me, i would like to regain my liking for it...

Im really starting to go off whitney more and more, she is far too chavy etc and i just have no warmth for her charactor at all.
I hope Ben gets beaten up in tomorrows episode. Hospitalized, preferrably.

That's a bit harsh. I actually felt sorry for him when them girls were throwing sweets at him, and he couldn't see them. :(

Okay the TV mods have been quiet on this in the past. We thought casual warnings would be enough but we were wrong. Can't believe it had to come to posting this.

So here it is

This thread is for discussing East Enders. Now we know people should be able to discuss both the negatives and positives of the show but if you come in here to antagonize the majority of posters and disrupt the thread then you'll find your posts deleted, repeat offenders will have their warning level increased. We're done repeating ourselves.

Note: We're not saying you have to love East Enders to post in here but if all you're going to do is post things like "yet another crap episode" and p***ing off those who are genuinely interested in the show then don't bother. Real criticism of course if okay.

Joao & Osiris

None of the rest of the episode matters - Ben dancing to LoveGame with Louise, was pretty much the highlight of all the months shows.

And, now...Fatboy may be like the worst actor to grace the show (worse than Danny, yes) but he does actually amuse me now.

Oh, and go Lucy.

How long before we get Ben's coming out story?! I actually felt a tiny wee bit sorry for him when Phil gave him his gift.

I really do like Zsa Zsa but why oh why did she have to be paired with Twatboy and Drip. :( We've progressed from innit to bruv now.

Pat and Peggy were hilarious - shame the pouter had to appear in their scene on the square.

Last night's episode was hilarious  Bless Ben. I can't believe he's meant to be 14 though, he seems more like 10. I think someday soon he'll go upstairs and not come down for a month, then look like Zac Effron and be played by someone else entirely

I can't stand ANY of the E20 characters though. Zsa Zsa is the least offender, but the other two are f***ing awful.

Ben and Louise dancing to LoveGame was hysterical yet incredible cringeworthy too. Ben annoys the hell out of me, but at the same time I feel sorry for him because it's almost as if the writers are poking fun at him and as if the character is just one big parody. It'd be interesting if he did have a coming out storyline which would clearly revolve more around Phil coming to terms with his sexuality rather than himself, but as he's only 14 I doubt he even knows what his preferences are yet.

The Ben and Louise scenes were hilarious. I think Louise is my new favourite child actor, overtaking Tiffany, who recently has become boring. Also, "what's a disco stick" has to be one of my favourite EastEnders quotes ever.

Yes i was laughing with the Disco Stick comment thing as well  & I do too find FatBoy annoying & Leon sooo boring. Zsa Zsa sounds like she actually has potential. They just need to give her better people to work with instead of those 2 boys.

Are Eastenders trying to make Ben a gay character for the future? :o It seems like this week it's gay week in soapland.

Yeah the Gaga dancing was pretty much EastEnders gold and actually made Ben's terrible acting over the past few weeks semi-worthwhile. I think it says a lot that the actor is only convincing when he's parodying himself though! Louise seems decent although there's been no signs of her being an evil little witch this week so I hope they haven't forgotten that storyline. I think it was Zsa Zsa's face during that scene that made it for me frankly.
