Scott Maslen actually isn't a bad actor I don't think. He's reasonably convincing as a laid-back breezy character and when he's angry, and those are the character's only two modes. Award worthy? No, but not terrible either.

I think Barbara is good at the subtle stuff - where she's having a heart to heart with somebody like Pat and she's not hamming it up. She's just not technically very good at the more dramatic stuff but it doesn't matter one jot to me, she's incredibly likeable which is what the character is all about.

I don't know how you could possibly not miss the acting but still miss the character - Babs IS Peggy. Nobody else could play her.

As for Peggy- The character is a legend but my God Barbara is an awful actress. Please tell me it's not just me? She made me cringe on Friday's episode with her crying.

It isn't just you. The character is good (well for EE she's an asset) but Barbara Windsor is a very, very poor actress. I love her in the Carry On films though.

As in "Oh gosh, it's EXCRUCIATING to watch this," but at the same time "Aww I love Peggy." Of course I'd much rather love Peggy AND enjoy the acting, but you can't have it all.

Completely agree with all of that! I'd been thinking all week how much I'd gone off Stacey due to Becca but once she left last night, it was like we were back to pre-Bradley's-death Stacey. :D

Turner is the best actor in the soap but let's see what her acting is up to once she leaves. Everyone said great things were going to come from the one who played Tiffany and the one who played Kat ... and yet ... what (of note) have they done since? In fact ... the Kat actress is running back to EE with her tail between her legs along with the useless tool that played Alfie Moon.

Very few actors make it outside the comfort zone of a soap ... the only soap that has produced actors that have gone on to better things (in any number) has been Brookside. From EE ... I can only think of Tamzin Outhwaite who has done anything half-decent since.

Gillian Taylforth? Michelle Collins? Michelle Ryan? Jill Halfpenny? That's just off the top of my head.

Of course it's true that not many soap actors go on to get other high profile work but Lacey Turner is more talented than all four of those so I don't know why she wouldn't. It's madness to say she might just 'seem good because the rest of the cast are crap' (paraphrased from what Norma spouted in the Corrie thread). For starters there are plenty of other good or great actors in the cast (Samantha Womack, Nina Wadia) and secondly a good actor is a good actor, stat.

To add to the list;

Nick Berry? Naff yes, but pretty successful throughout the 90s.

Martine McCutcheon? (For a couple of years at least, let's forget those Activia ads)

Lacey Turner is brilliant, i hope she isin't killed.. but she's too good to leave in a black cab?
I'm pretty sure they said they're leaving the door open for her? At least that's what I've always assumed. She's too good to be killed off, surely?
Well Apparently Stacey's exit storyline will be the New Year's Eve/New Year's Day episodes so that should be exciting. I think Stacey NEEDS a brilliant exit but I hope it isn't her going to prison for killing Archie. I sense a return for Becca though...

Tonight's episode was amazing!

Dot was hilarious, and so were Sam and Roxy with the baseball bats.

That last scene was so bloody shouty, I think I've got a headache :( LOL.

No, it was a decent episode. Stacey seems to be going off the rails again, half of the hen party behaving like feral creatures, Phil as repulsive as ever. There's nothing quite like a bit of misery in E20!

That was an absolutely fantastic episode! I was watching with my housemates, and those last 5 minutes we were screeching with laughter throughout.

Drunk Naked Ryan vs Dot was marvellous, Stacey's rather casual "she's not Bradley's" with a smile, the hen night from Hell, Queen KIM, and the sight of Roxy and Sam with baseball bats whilst Billy and Jay launch Phil into the living room - ALL GOLD

Never eve thought we'd get to see Neil McDermott naked in EE. :yahoo:
Really? He practically gets naked at every oppurtunity!

I could have killed Stacey tonight. Take your pills b!tch.

Poor Dot.

:(

LOL at Pegs nailing in that slab of wood, like that would stop the mighty Phil Mitch.

Didn't the door open inwards? Therefore Phil can open the door and crawl under the plank?!

Exactly what i thought.

Ah, soapland errors.
