still I'm leaning my back after second chance, not just because of semis fun etc etc but because it won't be a big change from the current format...indeed it will just make final look more fierce with all the amazing songs.

 

And I'm repeating again why is bad idea if we go with the big final...we might have a huge gap in points between winner and runner-up and the whole swap at #1 during the final results will be dead and gone...will it make final results more interesting that way...I doubt so.

Ah yes, this is something I agree with. A maximum of 24 points is a bit too much, perhaps 18 or 20 for your top amount? 24-1 IS a big difference.

Agreed, 24 points is far too many to give. Especially if your only voting for like 15 tracks.

 

20tracks and 24points would be alright.

I'm totally with you on that one tbh. A DNQ is not so bad (they say :kink:) but no-one wants to be 49th in the final... And technically no country will be able to say they never made a final... Maybe that's a good thing.

 

I just feel that we are still at the ideas stage here.

20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 looks good, IMO.

I'm not really a fan of having so many gaps of two. I think it should still be only the top 3 that have gaps that big Which would mean 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-14-16-18, but that might be too low still?

Seriously. I can't really say much more as Aaron and Ben have written exactly what I was going too but one big final is an epic idea.

 

I'm not saying I don't like Semis- I do- It does make it fun to find if you have qualified, but I find the whole BJSC is about discovering new music and voting for your favourites. Yes, it will be more music to listen to but isn't that essentially what BJSC is about? To listen to music? I always listen to the other Semis songs even if thier not in my semi.

20 is a bit too much imo. I was thinking more along the lines of like 14 - 12 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1. Just because we'll have bigger finals doesn't mean I want to vote for that many more songs. Hell, I'd be fine with the same point system. It'd make things tougher. No more runaway winners.

We're likely to end up with our first nil pointer with 1 big final

i doubt it unless it's really THAT $h!t.

 

i'm not saying that the one big final thing HAS to be implemented (even though i'd really like it to), but if either of these two will be it should EASILY be that one, or keep everything the same. second chance = more work, more voting, and still a big ass final which could (could) cause all of these problems that people are mentioning. like i said, one step towards one big final except with two extra pointless stages

 

and talking about hurt feelings, i'd rather just finish low in the final than not only disqualify not once but twice. that's a slap in the face.

Yep, I don't think we need to give away quite so many points. I suppose we're currently voting for 10 out of 30, so 15 out of 45 (I'd imagine that'll be about the average) is the same ratio. I suppose I see your point though. It all depends on how participation levels change. If we get 50, I can see voting for 15 being alright, but it might be too much if we get down to 40. I don't know...

I actually agree with you 100%. I know people sometimes/most of the time moan and say "oh I wish I could have given more" but that's just the way it goes. Plus, keeping the same points system despite it being a bigger final, would keep the stats consistant and if a new record was broken or whatever, at least it was done in the same & fair way and not been beaten at an unfair advantage or whatever. (Does this make sense? HAHA)

Yes, but can't you see how adding possibly 20 songs the the final makes voting all that more difficult? I don't know, I think we might end up with stupid results if we keep it to 10. Voting for a fifth of the finalists, rather than a third makes me think we'll end up with stupid looking scoreboards.

Ehh. I don't really see it like that. If you get the lowest overall points in the semis, you've essentially finished last (49th, 50th, whatever) we just don't say it like that.

The idea of a massive final doesn't really interest me all that much......I like having it broken up into a semi and a final.

 

Listening through and voting on 40+ songs could easily become a chore, I should know because I've been in spinoffs over at NSC that have over 40 songs in them with a different points system (up to 20 points for favourite I think, voting for 15 songs) and it pales in comparison to the semi/finals format.....it's not as exciting. Imo anyway.

 

Also, I'd imagine it would be alot easier for people to get frustrated (and not the "oh I'll just keep trying frustrated") with always getting 45th's or 48th's than getting 25th's or 28th's
