It's probably easier than signing downloads :kink: In Sweden it's still commonplace, in fact a lot of #1's there are decided by who has done the most in-store signings that week because the sales are so low, 1000 CD's signed could easily tip the balance between #2 and #1.

Are downloads not counted towards the chart in Sweden, or are the sales there just naturally that low?

Don't forget that the population of Sweden is only 9.3 million people. :) I live in the city with the population 5m people. :P

They are, and in a normal week download sales outweigh those of singles but around Melodifestivalen time in particular, most of the artists sign in shopping malls and CD single sales considerably increase. Whenever you see a bizarre one week wonder of a top ten hit there, you can almost guarantee that the spike was down to somebody signing non stop for a week. I *think* the average #1 there sells anything between 4,000-8,000 copies, so assuming somebody was set for a #5 hit on sales of 3,000, four instore signings to 250 fans each would give them a #1 hit on a low sales week.

 

How come Snow Patrol has been around the top 40 and in it in the past week. The staying power is abit odd too. :mellow:

I still have hope Selena can make it.

i hate justin bieber, miley and all those disney wannabe singers, but selena's song is quite good actually.
