I don't know why some people are shocked at Kelis doing well, surely it was obvious?!

I think it's more the fact that it was an early release... but yeah, it was obvious it'd do well.

I think some people were skeptical because of how badly her last era did. Although iirc she went two eras without a hit between Caught Out There and Milkshake.

Kelis only had a few great songs before Acapella imho - Caught Out There, Trick Me (to an extent), Keep It Down (Dirrty-style track on Tasty) and Lil Star are the only 4 great tracks by Kelis imo. Acapella is the fifth ^_^

IMO,

Acapella > Milkshake >>>> Trick Me >> Caught Out There >>>>>>>>>>> Lil Star

I'm not sure why people would be shocked, top 5 was guaranteed imo for acapella.

Yeah. If anything, I'm surprised by how low it is so far!

'Lil Star' was an excellent song - definitely deserved to go top 3 in early 2007.

The great thing about Kelis is that she can go down the urban route ('Caught Out There', 'Milkshake', 'Trick Me'), the soulful route ('Lil Star') and the dancefloor route ('Acapella') and still sound great. Kelis has proved she is versitile artist who can pull off different styles.

You could apply that to Rihanna too. Anyways, I'm glad that 'Acapella' has taken off. The video looks brilliant and is definitely one that grabs your attention.

Overall, it's great to see a lot of new singles doing well on iTunes. If only Paul Weller was amongst them. :(

I can understand why people would be shocked about Kelis' doing so well. She's always been a bit hit and miss in the UK charts, when she gets a hit, she gets a huge hit.. and when she gets a flop, she gets a pretty bad one. However, she got three top 3 hits from the Tasty era so hopefully the FleshTone era will be just as successful/if not more so.

#5 isnt low really, i think if she comes in at #5, its not one of those that will drop, it'll stick around or possibly even peak at a later date.

OMG is taking forever to get to #1, it has to get there soon before the newbies this week catch up...

is all night long going to chart with the album version?

Btw, :w00t: at All Night Long getting it's first Radio 1 play

Why does everyone think Xtina should be #1 right away. Who apart from us chart loons knows its out?

Exactly that's my point. Many more people will start to pick up that it's out and it'll climb as the week progressess or if not this week next week. If it does flop then i would be wrong but knowing somebody as huge as Christina, i know she'll climb in time :D

What is Rihanna's actual 3rd UK single?

Is it Photographs, Te Amo or Rockstar 101?

I'd choose Rockstar 101 tbh but her management always fack up the releases.
