Posted April 17, 201015 yr Basically as the title says, what songs should've been singles from Spirit? There were so many that imho were wasted. Some had great potential to be hits worldwide - including the US. This would have been my Spirit release schedule: Oct 2007 - Bleeding Love (Apr 2008 in US) Mar 2008 - Better In Time/Footprints In The Sand (UK only for SR) Jun 2008 - Take A Bow (Jul 2008 in US) Oct 2008 - Yesterday (non-UK single) possibly Whatever It Takes in some countries. Nov 2008 - Forgive Me (UK only) Dec 2008 - Run (Jan 2009 in Europe) That would have been far better in my opinion than what actually happened. Better In Time should have never been released worldwide after Bleeding Love. Take A Bow had so much potential - as did Yesterday and Whatever It Takes. Edited April 17, 201015 yr by SIXtina
April 17, 201015 yr 'Whatever It Takes' deserved a single release somehow. I'm sure they could've found a way to slot it in between 'Better In Time' and then 'Forgive Me' instead of abandoning the actual album after just two singles.
April 17, 201015 yr Thinking about it now, I would leave BIT as 2nd single as I think it appealed to another audience who didn't like Bleeding Love and did that better than any other track would have. Take A Bow was the obvious next single though and should have had a May release. The gap between BIT and FM was absolutely f***ing ridiculous. And then they never released it in the US which it was perfect for! *breathes* Anyways I'm over those cock-ups. Let's bitch about the Echo era instead :P
April 17, 201015 yr Author Anyways I'm over those cock-ups. Let's bitch about the Echo era instead :P I'll be posting another thread soon/later about Echo :P
April 17, 201015 yr I think this would have been perfect: 1) Bleeding Love 2) Better In Time / Footprints in the Sand 3) Take a Bow 4) Run (and re-release album) :)
April 18, 201015 yr October 2007 - Bleeding Love January 2008 - Better In Time April 2008 - Take A Bow July 2008 - Whatever It Takes November 2008 - Run February 2009 - Forgive Me
April 18, 201015 yr Author October 2007 - Bleeding Love January 2008 - Better In Time April 2008 - Take A Bow July 2008 - Whatever It Takes November 2008 - Run February 2009 - Forgive Me Yeah but where would the Sports Relief single fit in. I think BIT, FITS, HIA and WIT are the only appropriate songs for SR.
April 18, 201015 yr Yeah but where would the Sports Relief single fit in. I think BIT, FITS, HIA and WIT are the only appropriate songs for SR. I wouldn't have had her do it, unless it was a new unheard song.
April 18, 201015 yr The only difference I would have made would have been for Forgive Me to have got a worldwide release (not releasing this in NA was so stupid, especially considering it was orientated for that market) and then give Run a big release worldwide with promo (bar the UK and some european countries, I don't think this had any in many large markets). They never should have released I Will Be IMO. Any additional single releases in the UK would have probably bombed due to the high album sales.
April 21, 201015 yr "Better in Time" was decent follow-up, but for the U.S. it was criminal that they didn't release "Take a Bow". A real missed opportunity, as I think it would've been a real hit.
April 21, 201015 yr 1. Bleeding Love 2. Take a Bow  - AMAZING! - hope she does this on tour! 3. Forgive Me 4. Better In Time / Homeless 5. Run
April 22, 201015 yr I see I'm still the only one who prefers 'Misses Glass' over 'Forgive Me'? :( I would have gone... 01. 'Bleeding Love' [Oct/Nov 2007] (WW) 02. 'Better In Time' [Mar 2008] (WW) 03. 'Take A Bow' [Jun 2008] (WW) 04. 'Forgive Me' (US)/'Misses Glass' (UK) [sept 2008] 05. 'Run' [Nov 2008] (UK) *Lead Re-Release*
