Jamie T is a tall, skinny lad from the south-west London suburb of Wimbledon, obsessed by The Clash, Tom Waits, Rancid and The Specials as much as he's influenced by the garage and drum'n'bass raves he grew up attending. Armed with an acoustic bass guitar, 20-year-old Jamie has rocked the backrooms of London pubs, playing his solo show of tales of suburbia and what it is to be a young English gentleman growing up under Tony Blair. 'Sheila' is Jamie's second release, and is one of the first tunes Jamie ever wrote. Full of typically Jamie T pithy one-liners and a massively upbeat sing-a-long chorus ("Sheila goes out with her mate Stella, which she pours all over her fella"), it's actually a bleak tale of drunken misadventure ending up in tragedy as the "Paramedic announced death at 10.30". - HMV track listing * 1.
