Steps :kink: a guilty pleasure of mine too

Robin S- Show Me Love- CLUB CLASSIC! :wub: :wub:

Not Robin S, Robyn of With Every Hearbeat fame with a track of the same name. It used to confuse me no end :drama:

Show Me Love (by Robin S) is brilliant but didn't quite make the cut for my top 100 - it was in the 30 odd that I culled :cry:

I'm so making a playlist of all these songs, fantastic selection gooddelta. "All I Wanna Do" should've been way higher though.
Ahh, late 90's pop :D Much more edifying than the $h!te that gets in the chart these days! I used to listen to the top 40 religiously when most of these came out, I was 15 and not quite at the point where I discovered the NME :lol: Jennifer Paige.. Crush was a great pop song, did she ever release a follow up? She was quite hot too!

10 more for this evening and I'll continue tomorrow;

70. B*Witched - C'est La Vie (1998)

69. Vanessa Williams - Save The Best For Last (1992)

68. Madonna - Frozen (1998)

67. Oasis - Live Forever (1994)

66. Aqua - Turn Back Time (1998)

65. The Cardigans - Lovefool (1997)

64. Savage Garden - To The Moon & Back (1998)

63. Honeyz - Love Of A Lifetime (1999)

62. Boyzone - Picture Of You (1997)

61. Ace Of Base - The Sign (1994)

Getting into the songs I absolutely can't live without now. Irish quartet B*Witched's classy debut single C'est La Vie is at #70 and reminds me of my final months of primary school. Prior to being evil in Ugly Betty, Vanessa Williams was a rather good singer and Save The Best For Last was a rather epic ballad. Talking of epic ballads, Madonna's Frozen is up next :wub: My favourite Oasis song, the timeless Live Forever is up at #67 and Aqua's best song by far Turn Back Time is at #66. The Cardigans' brilliant Romeo & Juliet soundtrack song Lovefool is followed by a great (but overshadowed by Truly Madly Deeply) song from Australian duo Savage Garden. The first of three Honeyz songs appears at #63, the gorgeous R&B ballad Love Of A Lifetime. Maybe not as much of a fan of them in the 90's as I am now, there's no denying that Picture Of You was a career highlight for Boyzone, and made a nice change from their usual ballad covers. And the fantastic Swedish band Ace Of Base just miss the top 60 with the brilliant The Sign, a UK #2 which REALLY should have gone a place higher but alas was kept from #1 by Doop with their eponymous single :mellow:

Probably but I think it was a huge flop. She released a single called Beautiful Lie with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter last year which I really liked actually! She still looks pretty much the same 12 years on :o

I thoroughly approve of these. 1998/99 really was a fantastic year for rubbish pop.

Really? :o I had no idea she was still recording music, I'll check it out :D I remember the video, wasn't she on a swing? Bit of a hazy recollection I know :lol: I think pop has kind of come round full circle in about 10/11 years or so, we had about 3 or 4 years when indie/rock dominated and pop took a back seat but it's definately been creeping back and really seems to be dominating again. I think I'd take the first wave from 1998/99 over Glee and Lady Gaga anyday though!

I still have one more song to come from the opus that is Ray Of Light, and it's not the title track!

Drowned World/Subsitute For Love? :wub:

Only just noticed, why is 'Torn' so low? :o :o And is it Vanessa Williams who plays Wilhemina (sp?) Slater in Ugly Betty? :heehee:

One and the same, Josh!

One and the same, Josh!

She hasn't aged a bit!

Drowned World/Subsitute For Love? :wub:

THIS. I'm also hoping to see "Say It Again" by Precious (1999), "Ray of Light" by Madonna (1998) and "Dreamer" by Livin' Joy (1995). And more from Mariah, Spice Girls + 2 more appearances from the legendary Britney Spears. And maybe a bit of The Prodigy..

Either way, it's a fantastic list so far :wub: I don't wanna steal your idea gooddelta but I would love to do a 00's edition later on if that's ok?

I still love it, but it's not amongst my top favourites of the decade.

Thanks Spiral :D yes I'd love to see your 00's edition! This thread is meant for discussion/inspiration as well as just being a bog standard chart rundown.

Next ten;

60. JX - There's Nothing I Won't Do (1996)

59. Meja - All 'Bout The Money (1998)

58. Alisha's Attic - I Am, I Feel (1996)

57. Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There (1996)

56. Take That - Pray (1993)

55. Honeyz - Finally Found (1998)

54. Inner City - Good Life (Buena Vida) (1999)

53. One More Time - Den Vilda (1996)

52. S Club 7 - Bring It All Back (1999)

51. Honeyz - End Of The Line (1998)

Dance act JX kicks off the top 60 with 1996 top 5 hit There's Nothing I Won't Do followed by Swedish country-pop singer Meja with a song which should have gone top ten in the UK really. Sister duo Alisha's Attic are at #58 with the brilliant I Am, I Feel the first of many top 20 hits for them (none of them reaching the top 10 :drama:) and Spice Girls make their first appearance at #57 with their second single and one which I far preferred to Wannabe. Take That's first UK No.1, the summer smash Pray (complete with tacky dance routine which they still perform) is followed by the gorgeous debut single by Honeyz and from the following year a stunning Ibiza chillout style remix of the 80's Inner City song, which returned it to the UK top ten. Eurovision 1996 makes its first of two appearances as Sweden's entry, the beautiful Den Vilda, which finished 3rd, comes in 53rd. S Club 7's debut single, the lively Bring It All Back, is at #52 and Honeyz just miss the top 50 with their highest entry and my favourite of theirs, the top five hit from late 1998, End Of The Line :wub:

and finally the last ten before I hit my top 40 rundown which...consider every track from here onwards to be something that evokes a memory/reminds me of a time and a place etc...LOVE every song in the top 50 here;

50. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (1994)

49. All Saints - Never Ever (1997)

48. Livin' Joy - Dreamer (1995)

47. Madonna - The Power Of Goodbye (1998)

46. New Radicals - You Get What You Give (1999)

45. Boyzone - All That I Need (1998)

44. Strike - U Sure Do (1995)

43. Enya - Anywhere Is (1995)

42. DJ Jean - The Launch (1999)

41. Paula Cole - Where Have All The Cowboys Gone? (1997)

Mariah's Christmas classic kicks off the top 50, absolutely timeless, as is All Saints' biggest selling hit, the fantastic Never Ever. Livin' Joy's defining 90's dance hit, Dreamer is followed by Madonna's underrated (didn't make the tracklist of the Celebration collection :() but brilliant The Power Of Goodbye. Bono wannabe (at least he sounds like him)/Ronan Keating/Boyzone songwriter Gregg Alexander's New Radicals are at #46 with the absolutely brilliant You Get What You Give. And talking of Boyzone, they have their highest entry with their almost completely forgotten 1998 chart topper, the breezy All That I Need. Strike's top five dance smash is followed by a euphoric Enya moment at No.43, which I even prefer to Orinoco Flow, pure bliss. Dutch producer DJ Jean's space travel influenced UK #2 hit The Launch from 1999 is at No.42 and just missing the top 40 is US singer Paula Cole with her stunning 1997 top 15 hit. Her only other hit was the Dawson's Creek theme tune, I Don't Wanna Wait!

Awesome thread, it has indeed brought back memories. :thumbup: *is thinking of taking a nostalgic trip to Youtube* :teresa:

MUCH loving to "Finally Found", "The Power Of Goodbye", "Never Ever", "You Get What You Give", and "All About The Money". 98/99 really was my era.

My favourite has to be the remix of "Good Life" - utterly brilliant and uplifting.

I'll also say that "All That I Need" is one of the few Boyzone songs I can tolerate - I know not why.
