08/08/92 Snap 'Rhythm Is A Dancer'

19/09/92 The Shamen 'Ebeneezer Goode'

17/10/92 Tasmin Archer 'Sleeping Satellite'

At the time I liked Ebeneezer Goode. It quickly lost its charm.

Strangers In The Night ain't bad, one of Frank's best IMO...

i agree its one of his best, but its still pretty poor imho and in the heart of the inovative swinging 60's it really sticks out like a sore thumb!

I also quite like:

29/02/98 Cornershop 'Brimful Of Asha'

07/03/98 Madonna 'Frozen'

21/03/98 Run DMC vs Jason Nevins 'It's Like That'

(I'm dubiously ignoring Celine for this one as she was a return to #1)

Ignoring Celine Dion is always a good thing.

I'll go for...

6/2/82 - Kraftwerk - The Model / Computer Love

13/2/82 - The Jam - Town Called Malice / Precious

6/3/82 - Tight Fit - The Lion Sleeps Tonight (!!!! - What, what?)

26/3/88 - Aswad - Don't Turn Around

9/4/88 - Pet Shop Boys - Heart

30/4/88 - S'Express - Theme from S'Express

8/4/90 - Madonna - Vogue

6/5/90 - Adamski - Killer

3/6/90 - England New Order - World in Motion

27/1/91 - KLF - 3AM Eternal

10/2/91 - The Simpsons - Do The Bartman (ahem, well we all loved the video)

3/3/91 - The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

youve just lost all credibility

This would be my favourite run:

03/02/90 Sinead O'Connor 'Nothing Compares 2 U'

03/03/90 Beats International 'Dub Be Good To Me'

31/03/90 Snap 'The Power'

14/04/90 Madonna 'Vogue'

12/05/90 Adamski 'Killer'

09/06/90 Englandneworder 'World In Motion'

Beats International to Madonna is a great run, 1990 is actually a vintage year for number one hits. Not that I like all of them, but you do still hear them on radio and TV on a regular basis thus proving their longevity.

There was a better run a few weeks before this

Various Artists - Perfect Day

All Saints - Never Ever

Oasis - All Around the World

End of 87/beginning of 88 wasn't bad

T'Pau - China In Your Hand

Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind

Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth

(Which was then followed by Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now which is one of my guilty pleasures, in fact most of her back catalogue is!) but then was Kylie Minogue - I Should Be So Lucky which again good at the time hasn't aged well at all.

but it is quite difficult to find three in a row which both sounded good at the time and have aged well - e.g. Summer 85 "There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)" and "Into The Groove" tick all the boxes, but then the UB40/Chrissie Hynde cover of "I Got You Babe" which I bought at the time now sounds cringeworthy.
