I didn't anything into anyone's mouth. I just said that nobody else threatened to leave, which means to be passionately against the new format to me.

I'd be happy with that...I don't have anything against the semis - again for me it's 55/45 - I'm not passionately for the new format at all, but I slightly prefer it.

The only thing that i don't like about semis is that we will return to DNQing  It takes away all the f***ing fun. You had no idea how i was excited in BJSC26, to watch my entry finally in the final after 2 times DNQing before that (and there were not only 2 months between BJSC24 and BJSC26, so it felt even more longer  ). People will be sending stuff to qualify more easily (i'm not saying they don't like the songs they sent!) and I will personally smash the Nickodonia/Tinnmark's record to pieces :(

So it's approximately 63/37 for me. :o

It is incredibly boring when you DNQ, watching as an outsider. The final thread was so packed this time around, with about 35 participants viewing at one point - that's HUGE for BJSC!

The more people to witness my fail. :snif:

It wasn't a fail, I really enjoyed it, and loved the fonts used for the country names

Also most of the No's came from people that comes on here only to reserve, confirm and vote...I don't understand how they find boring new system when most of them didn't show up even when we were with semis...looks like reading through topics un-logged in is what they call FUN.

I agree Addy - 'fun' comes from making the odds, predictas, guesses, speculations etc...we had 9 predicta votes and about 7 sets of odds - out of 48 people...

You can't speculate on nothing - if more people took part in these, discussion would increase as people argue about what's going to do well/flop

Even when we had semis, it was only the same 5 or 6 of us discussing things...

I would've taken part in odds & predicta, but I thought I'd be rubbish at them as it was my first contest, and I didn't know how to not let my feelings towards certain songs from taking over me

But at least I don't just come here to reserve, confirm & vote. I comment on some people's possible entries in their national threads. I discuss a bit during the contest :)

And I bolded a bit of Addy!'s post, because I'm kind of backing it up. I voted yes, and I'm not one of the people who just reserve, confirm & vote

Same here!

Much better solution, let's get a life :P

... Indeed. :D

*starts thinking aloud*

Maybe if the number of confirmations gets over 40 - we have semis, if less - then one big final! (But again if people are even against listening to only maximum 10 additional tracks, which is their main arguement, then i give up :drama: :( )

*ends thinking aloud*

Think of it this way - 10+ songs of about 3 + minutes each = 30 minutes per listen. You want to listen to each song 3/4 times before voting means an extra two hours of listening minimum plus the additional times voting and difficulties comparing so many songs.

An extra two hours in two weeks isn't at all demanding, though.

I really don't get this issue. I'm not trying to be condescending or rude, but can people not actually be logical? It just seems that asking people to listen to and vote for some extra songs causes severe stress. And if two weeks is too boring, then you can't complain that listening to extra songs is too much. If you're really that bored during those two weeks then you'll have no problem listening to the extra ten songs, which is a whopping amount, evidently.

I just don't see how "two weeks is too long for voting!!!" and "there are too many songs to vote for!!!" makes any sense.

Yes, James, just finally start entering good songs indeed :)

Better solution, get a better music taste! :P

THIS TOO obviously.

Music is always in the background when i do some other things, plus my mp3 player just DOES WONDERS. You can walk and listen to the music :o :o

I work 6 days a week and am studying at the same time. I listen to the songs whenever possible - In the car every morning and night and whenever I'm on a computer in my room. Having taken part in 20 (+spinoffs and best ofs) contests I don't think people can question my dedication. Surely this vote shows that a lot of people are in the same situation as me - I found that listening to all the songs could be done but that when I then came to compile my votes I found it pretty much impossible to remember and compare them all in once. Apparently some people are able to blitz through the songs and vote on them straight away which is fine but it's not the way I like to vote - I don't see how you can judge a song fully on half a listen.

When I say it's too hard to listen to all the songs, I'm not just being awkward for the sake of it but am saying it because it is too hard!

When i need to freshen the image/sound of the song in my head i usually give it a short listen, to remember how i liked it/hated it, etc. Of course no person can remember every song in such short period of time especially if you have to do things other than participating in an online song contest. That's why the gradual elimination process is quite effective. It's not very likely you will love all the songs, that's why eliminating the first bunch (and therefore not listening to them after) can be very useful. I personally use that technique. These songs are VERY rarely grow on me (motly because i don't play them after at all) after i vote so no regrets. I know it's 'i want to give each song equal chance to score some of my points' but considering how busy some of us, including you, are - this is pretty impossible, so i'd advise shortening your playlists each time you feel some song(-s) are not good enough for your votes, if you don't already do that. It also helps you concentrate on songs that you liked from the first listen more than trying to get into a song that wasn't so enjoyable the time you played it to yourself the first time!

Ah f***. I knew Alexandra's number 11 success wasn't down to the song itself, but the fact her mother featured on this Soul II Soul track! :drama: YOU GOT ME.

It's hardly fair to assume that just because we can do it means that we don't do it properly. Like you, I have been very busy, but with college and exams. I managed to listen to all of the songs using the system Pavel has explained above. I was extremely happy with my votes and I voted without causing any interference with college or exam study.

I may have voted on the second day, but I did listen to everything at least twice, and at least 3 times for the 30 songs that I didn't cut out after two listens. I devoted my whole Monday to BJSC that week :heehee: I wouldn't change a thing about my votes now either retrospectively.

I was extremely happy with your votes as well :kink:
