Am I being optimistic or will B.o.B's 'Airplanes' make a top 40 entrance this week? His album is released on Monday and the track made the iTunes top 10 in USA/Aus when its parent record came out and hasn't dropped like a stone either. I just love it and hope it becomes massive!
I do agree, but it's already been top 20.

Oh has it? I've been severely busy at the moment, I haven't managed to keep track :(

A lot of people think it will. I really hope it does, but it does suffer a lot from not being released on Sunday. It will be amazing if it does though. Has an album track ever charted top 40 before, with no airplay? It's been in the top 10 in the US for ages, and has got to #1 somewhere (I think New Zealand, or Australia).

I don't think any of them had airplay at the time but I may be wrong? Of course there's Ke$ha as well.

Jesus :o

Looks like B.o.B will definitely be back at #1 next week then!

NZ it has been #1. #2 in Aus and I'm not sure about its US position so far.

I just love it for the Hayley Williams vocals obviously :heehee:

Ke$ha's song had loads of airplay. 3 Words was premiered on Radio 1, but it did have barely any airplay other than that, so that was pretty impressive. I'm not sure about the others though.

A lot of people think it will. I really hope it does, but it does suffer a lot from not being released on Sunday.

I have a figure of 17.6% of weekly singles sales being on Sunday, so a Monday release is a very significant disadvantage.

I am surprised that Chrsitina is already out of the Top 40, I really hope she is in the UK next week for promo.Plus what is Alicia doing she must have a tv show lined up, she needs to go Top 10.Kesha has dropped again.Hope Alex, Rhianna and Ellie can still climb.

Wow. Part of me thinks, if you want the best chart position, it might even be best to release the song on the Saturday, so you cut out a day of the song slowly climbing up the chart.

I've always wondered why albums aren't released on the Sunday, digitally that is.

Dizzee's "Dirtee Cash" made #11 first week then climbed one plave and dropped quite quickly again. The single release didn't really affect its decline. When "The Fame Monster" was released "Telephone" made the top 40 and a few others made the top 75 (I think all but one of the 8 tracks were in the top 100 that week) so technically "Alejandro" is a re-entry this time round.

Don't forget, not the iTunes chart positions but sales count towards the official chart.

iTunes chart refletcts the last 24 or 48 hours sales on iTunes (it's a rolling chart). And the saturday's sales will get lost, if a song gets a release on a Saturday.

How come :o

It's the weekend I guess?

It's done that every single week since it left the top 40, going up to around 44, falling down to about 56, then back up to 44 the following Saturday and so on...

Imma Be, Rock That Body have gone up quite a bit too. Meet Me Halfway is back into the top 100 and Boom Boom Pow is back into the top 200.
